Re: Petra Live in 1978

Never heard of them. Were they official members or just fill-in musicians? They seem pretty into it to be passing members. At least the drummer who is even singing a song and doing it pretty well.

Petra Live in 1978

Found this really cool video from Petra in Rob Frazier's official website. It is from 1978 and features Petra singing a couple of old songs from their first three albums. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtrMfRdCC_Y Obviously Frazier is the one on keyboards, but anyone know who the other two are? That...

Re: Poll: Beyond Belief (1990)

I also love beyond belief. I have a slight preference to the original but love both versions and I can see why they do the newer live version with the direction music took. I'm curious. What changes did they do to "Beyond Belief" live? The only live version I've heard is the one that's on Farewell....

Re: Poll: Beyond Belief (1990)

I didn't even hesitate on this one. It may sound cliche, but "Creed" is my all-time favorite song. Plus Beyond Belief is the album that really got me into the band back in the day. For the most time, I would say this is probably my #1 album, but t o be honest, nowadays I don't revisit this one as mu...

Re: Poll: Petra Praise - The Rock Cries Out (1989)

Yeah...but a choir is a bit different. I would kind of like to have some Petra/black choir Bob gets funky riff stuff. I really liked what they did with "Who's On The Lord's Side" on Unseen Power and some of these could have used that treatment. Watching & hearing Petra do that song live was awesome...

Re: Poll: Petra Praise - The Rock Cries Out (1989)

Yesterday I revisited the Spanish version of the album, and found myself enjoying it more than I do the original. As a matter of fact, I think I've always enjoyed more the Spanish version than I do this one. Maybe it's because it was the first of the two that I heard, or because I'm a native Spanish...

Re: Poll: Petra Praise - The Rock Cries Out (1989)

but unlike the other two praise albums, it doesn't feel like a Petra album at all. What? I think it's the opposite for me. Well, yeah. This one has several songs were it hardly sounds like Petra. Maybe because a lot of the songs have male and/or female choirs headlining that makes it unlike any Pet...

Re: Poll: Petra Praise - The Rock Cries Out (1989)

This isn't a bad album, but unlike the other two praise albums, it doesn't feel like a Petra album at all. I like it, but it would probably be near the bottom of my ranking. Another weird fact is that being a Native Spanish speaker and living in a Spanish-speaking country, I happened to stumble upon...

And now to the first praise album... https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/26/Petra_Praise_1.jpg Didja know... Re: Poll: On Fire! (1988)

I've been listening to the album during the last day and I've narrowed it down to three: "Hit You Where You Live", "Defector", and "Somebody's Gonna Praise His Name". Coin-toss time. *tosses coin* "Somebody's Gonna Praise His Name" it is. I really love that song, particularly the break near the end ...

Re: Poll: Not of this World (1983)

I have a question to those that are more familiar with the early albums. I was reading some old interviews and found out that Louie Weaver didn't record the drums in this album. Apparently, JDB brought back Keith Edwards, who had previously recorded the drums for Never Say Die , to do this one as w...
