Re: Poll: On Fire! (1988)

Another great album. Probably on my Top 5. Love how it continues, and builds on, the themes from the previous album. This is another one where I would probably have a hard time choosing a favorite. I love the first three songs, "Defector", and "Somebody's Gonna Praise His Name"... but "Counsel of th...

Re: No Petra Tours????

You can't compare legacy secular bands to legacy CCM bands. It does not jive in any way shape and form. Christians mature out of their youthful preferences. Christians do not always remain Christians. It is no longer cool to be rebellious and listen to Christian rock. Having an alternative to secul...

Re: Poll: Back to the Street (1986)

Dang, this week I think I've listened to this album more than I ever had. Songs like "Back to the Street", "Whole World", and "Altar Ego" have really grown on me. It's all your fault!

Re: No Petra Tours????

Dream on, Daniel. That won't change a thing. If Petra really wants to be relevant, they should start making albums. I believe at this moment in their career albums might have more impact than touring. If they don't make albums, no wonder nobody's booking. It's not as if a heavy touring schedule is ...

Re: Poll: This Means War! (1987)

This is a great album, which is why I'm gonna have a hard time picking up a favorite. To me, this is a polar opposite to Back to the Street. A commanding album, full of hard, rocking songs where you can feel the confidence of Schlitt in his voice. The songs are a better suit for his style and voice,...

Re: Poll: Back to the Street (1986)

Another thing, I was about to comment on how the album was written and recorded before Schlitt came on board, but someone beat me to it. Anyway, I think that's part of what contributes to the end result for me. This album just doesn't feel like a fit for John's style or voice. To listen to it and th...

Re: Poll: Back to the Street (1986)

I just heard the album and tried to pay more attention to it. I still think it's one of their weakest efforts, and probably still a Bottom 3 album for me... but I think I appreciated some of the songs a bit more than I did before. I ended up voting for "Whole World", which although a bit dated, is j...

Re: Poll: Back to the Street (1986)

Easily Bottom 3 album for me, maybe even the weakest. I consider it to be extremely forgettable and bland. To vote properly, I will probably have to give it a spin tonight cause I've never familiarized entirely with the songs and I always get them mixed up.

Re: Meanwhile, "The Greater Cause" is still Awesome!

For some reason, I still haven't heard it. I have to say, even though I'm a huge fan of Shake and Unfit for Swine, I was a bit let down by The Grafting. Maybe that's why I haven't given this a chance.

Re: Poll: Not of this World (1983)

I also like Grave robber(d'uh) and Bema seat. Bur like ex, the rest of the album is a bit blah with what feels like a lot more filler. I don't know. To me, "Pied Piper" is one of the coolest songs from the band. I like how the guitars and keyboards work together, and I love the way the chorus tempo...

Re: Poll: Washes Whiter Than (1979)

Solid album. Not one of my favorites, but I still like it. I voted for "Magic Mirror". Bottom 5 album for me. Listen to it rarely(well more than Double Take). Production is far from timeless and sounds rushed. But having listened to other albums from that era, just seemed to have been the style tha...
