Re: Schlitt + Elefante = "Voices of Rock Tour!"

Elefante's latest album, On My Way to the Sun, is pretty sweet...well worth the listen.

Theocracy - new album released - As the World Bleeds

First, to clarify, I am not associated with Theocracy in any way...just a huge fan! I have always been a huge fan of Petra and see similar elements in Theocracy, musically and lyrically, that drew me to Petra -- solid, hard-rocking musicianship; soaring harmonies; and theologically sound and thought...

Re: all the bickering

Wow...I joined this forum a few months ago as an avid fan of Petra, the band, whatever incarnation it appeared in (well, except for the self-titled incarnation...), hoping to interact with other like-minded individuals in celebrating one of the most storied bands in Christian music, heck, in any for...

We've had Third Day appear several times at the local Zellwood Sweet Corn Festival held a bit to the northwest of Orlando, FL...this isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Is it just me or...

Does anyone else want to break out into a rousing chorus of 'Ah, look at all the lonely people' from the Beatles' Eleanor Rigby when they hear the first few notes of the new string intro to 'Rose Colored Stained Glass Windows' from BTTR?

Re: Too Big To Fail - Lyrics

This is why there's the term 'poetic license'...you're allowed to bend the rules of grammar, punctuation and capitalization, and just about everything else for the sake of poetry. Since song lyrics are a form of poetry, we can have all sorts of grammatical violations that get a free pass. Of course,...

Re: Back to The Rock Review

Thanks for cluing us in to replacing the http with https to get an SSL connection. The bad thing is I had to do this for almost every page through the order process....the initial merch store link and all subsequent links should be set to use https by default. Now I've got a nice big zip file downlo...

Actually, if they were able to tie their cart to PayPal, then the security thing wouldn't be so much of an issue, as the actual credit card data would not be exposed during the transaction.

Re: Back To The Rock IS OUT NOW!!!!

hrm...they don't use a secure server to take the credit card info...this is a bad thing. I very much would like to get my hands on these tunes, but not at the expense of potential identity theft.

Re: 4 Classic Petra Samples.

That full version of More Power To Ya that bakersfield posted gave me chills...it sounds way better than the sample on the blog...so I would hesitate to use those blog samples to judge anything. As far as the John vs. Greg argument that keeps popping up here, there, and everywhere, let's get this st...

Re: Track list for new Classic Petra release

PP2 is mostly too mellow...while well polished, it's just a very low-key version of Petra's sound.

Re: First time I heard Petra

early 80's...the kids who carpooled me to our private school in Tallahassee would play Petra, Rez, Steve Taylor, etc. etc. I heard the self-titled, NSD, and MPTY fairly regularly, along with Rez DMZ and Live! Bootleg and Steve Taylor's Meltdown. We listened to other stuff as well, like Amy Grant's f...

Re: What were your first favorite Christian Artisits?

Petra was definitely my first love, artist-wise, back in the MPTY/NOTW era and since then. Other bands/singers that I liked a lot from roughly the same time frame - Daniel Band, D&K, Rez, Mylon & Broken Heart, Steve Camp, Rick Cua, Stryper (for a little while, at least), Jars of Clay (all but their ...
