Re: Back To The Rock IS OUT NOW!!!!

It's kinda funny: I'm the one Bakersfield was reffering to who ordered it about 2am and had to wait. They had literally just put the download options up. It went from "Comming Soon" to what we have now when I clicked on the music tab. When I couldn't download, I shot them an email, which they respon...

Re: If I Had To Pick Another Singer For Petra...

Michael Sweet would fit in perfectly... If he wasn't such a busy guy! Ken Tamplin may be an interesting choice. Steven Patrick, depending on how he sounds now, would work. Petra is not an easy gig: range is a must. Greg Baily, interestingly enough, was quite good himself on the Farewell Tour. John E...

The same can be said for Greg X. Volz. "The River is Rising" is still one of my favorite CD's.

Re: Classic Petra Blog Feed

I have to agree -- the 'original lineup' tag is wrong... THE original lineup played in 2005 on one or two of Petra's Farewell shows. I have a few photos here: http://picasaweb.google.com/johnwschlitt/Nov122005FtWayneINFarewellTour# I could almost see it sticking if it were these guys with Greg X. V...

Re: Classic Petra Blog Feed

I just hate the whole "original members" comment. I emailed everyone who had an email address associated with the band and gave my opinion. It is at best misleading and at worst deceptive. I hope they edit it. It did not say "founding members", so how is it incorrect? Are thes 5 guys not original m...

Re: Farewell line-up reunion

Bottom line: I'm sure John and Louie were over this years ago. My take, for what it's worth: Petra changed completely a few times while Bob was away. Louie was no longer a good fit. I don't know if it was God's will, John's will or Wayne's will or all of the above. It happened. It wasn't under the b...

"Beat the System," CITAS version, 1985. Was totally blown away. Wore the tape out!

Re: Classic Petra Blog Mentions John Schlitt

I remember back in the day (when "Back to the Street" came out) I did not buy the album because I couldn't imagine anyone but GXV singing for Petra. That all changed when "This Means War" came out. Twenty something years later, I can't fathom Greg singing for Petra instead of John. Kinda ironic.

Re: Not bashing Petra, just an honest question.

Back on topic: I think Petra would have never died had some of the decisions around the time of No Doubt had been made differently. I don't mean to second guess Bob Hartman by any stretch of the imagination, but the album itself seemed rushed (the lack of live drums really hurt it), arguably the mos...

Re: John Schlitt's involvement

Wow, this turned, uh, interesting... Maybe John's lack of involvement is an effort to give Greg a second chance. Even though Greg was his predecessor, John is so identified with Petra that it's going to be hard enough for Greg to escape his shadow without him hanging around to cast it. Perhaps John ...

Re: Petra=Very Progressive... yet very underated!

Wow, Brent. I didn't look at it that way, but you're 100% right. I remember in the 90's, around the Unseen Power era I thought they were going to try to cross over( It seemed like "I Need to Hear From You" would have been a great vehicle for that, kinda like "Place in This World" was for Smitty). To...

Re: Petra=Very Progressive... yet very underated!

I know they used to get a ton of recognition, especially in CCM magazine. It just doesn't seem to be what it used to be. Everybody wants to put Stryper where I think Petra should be. There would have been no Stryper, or anyone else, for that matter, had it not been for Petra or someone like them bre...

Petra=Very Progressive... yet very underated!

I have been a Petra fan since I bought Captured in Time and space in 1985. Since then, I have bought both new and old Petra albums and have owned everything they have done at least once, most things on multiple occaisions! It just kills me that more Christian or even secular bands don't cite Petra a...
