Re: Petra in Steelville, MO

It’s not in the studio recording, but on tour when they did this song John would divide the audience and have each half sing a phrase of the chorus (“Praise his name”, “Call him Lord”). I’d seen concert footage of it before so I sort of knew what to expect when they started into the song. 8) https:/...

Re: Petra in Steelville, MO

Well, I went - of course, being my first concert I don’t have much to compare it to, but I have watched my share of Petra concert footage, so I think I had some idea of what to expect, and all I can say is, “Wow”. It was a fantastic show. The mix was excellent (a bit loud for my personal tastes but ...

Petra in Steelville, MO

Looks like the show at Meramec Music Theatre (postponed from March) is still on. https://www.tix.com/ticket-sales/meramecmusictheatre/3877/event/1154903 I have tickets... just not sure logistically if it'll work (1.5 hour drive one way, and I'd like to bring the whole family, but that includes a 10m...

Farewell Petra + John Lawry in Missouri

Anyone else going? It's a two-hour drive from St Louis where I live, which is probably the closest I've ever been geographically to a Petra concert. I just bought tickets for myself and the family. Although the group formally disbanded in 2006, members Bob Hartman, John Schlitt, John Lawry, Cristian...

Re: John Cooper on Apostasy

...CCM and the Christian music INDUSTRY has NOTHING to do with The Church. One is a business, owned and management by secular attornies and investors, to make money selling widgets. The other "legit" entity is the local body of believers in Jesus Christ. The only reason this article could be writte...

Re: John Cooper on Apostasy

A few thoughts I have, after a few days mulling over John Cooper's post. First, there is an interesting tension (which John acknowledges, both in the post and in a follow-up interview with CBN) between John's musical ventures (particularly Skillet) and the ideals for which John himself argues. Essen...

Re: Best Messages

Ever since I heard it, I've always thought the final song on J&H - "Sacred Trust" carried a huge punch.

"You spoke the truth in love so faithfully, You expect no less from me."

Whoa. Convicting much?

John Cooper on Apostasy

Hey, I’m still alive! 8) I saw the recent “John Cooper” thread on the Petra forum so I assume many folks may have already seen this link, but just in case... the Skillet frontman has some choice words regarding the recent spat of popular Christian “influencers” (his term) who’ve announced their depa...

Re: Petra Polls Summary

Nice work Thief! I just created a playlist with these songs and listened through it this morning while working. Normally I don't like mixing pre-Volz/Volz/Schlitt eras in a listening session, but this was very listenable. A bias towards the harder songs (not that I mind!), but overall a good represe...

Re: Petra vs Stryper

I'm pretty much decided against reading the book personally (I don't think I *want* to know the whole story here... ) but the key factor for me would be whether Michael's perspective is that of a Christian man who has fallen hard, and experienced (and can testify to) God's redeeming mercy, or if it'...

Re: NEW Schlitt Lawry 2014 Version of Prayer!!!!!

That seems to be the way they are taking it. The song is a petra song but the version is a song bu two petra performers. If Bob worked with this version I would call it a petra song. That saying I would love to see John Lowery team up with Petra and do this version live. Also if Petra makes a new c...
