Re: Remastered albums

The first pressings for Star Song Petra CDs were done in Japan. BTS, BTTS and TMW all exist in Japanese pressings for the US market. The second set of pressings were done in the UK. MPTY, NOTW and BTS were pressed between July 1986 and September 1987 at a UK pressing plant called Disctec. These wer...

Re: Remastered albums

The two formerly 'missing' tracks on the 'Washes Whiter Than' remaster appear to have been sourced from vinyl. Listen carefully and you can hear the odd giveaway. In fact, the pops and flutters match exactly with the WAV files of those songs, that I uploaded to this very forum a couple of years ago...

Re: The Jesus Music movie trailer

Stryper has repeatedly stated they were not Petra listeners. They did not come up through the ccm labels, or venues. Instead they took the more standard approach and their biggest influence is probably Van Halen. Maybe some Boston or Thin Lizzy, but certainly not Petra. Heck, they still pretty much...

Re: The Jesus Music movie trailer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsrrgSoForE I was hoping someone else would have touched on this by now. How much credit will the earliest pioneers of CCM get? Without Petra, there would be no Newsboys, Skillet, Stryper, etc. I feel like they'll get "the shaft" just like with the CCM anniversary sp...

Re: Remastered albums

Unless one of the remaining old guys like Bernie Grundman did it, I don't know how good it could be. They say you have to spend 10,000 hours to master an instrument or a related field. But, I would take the vinyl to have it for my grandkids, so they could know what Christian rock and record players ...

Re: Remastered albums

I have compared two albums, lining up the first gen CD releases with the remastered. This process is kind of boring, but, I had to do some gain matching to be able to invert polarity of the remastered tracks so I could hear what is going on. Basically, the remasters are about 4dB hotter +/-, and the...

Re: Captured In Time & Space DVD

Even if it has been stored properly, it's good for one more pass getting the oxide shredded by those spinning heads at 3.75 IPS.

Re: Captured In Time & Space DVD

Louie told me he has masters from the previous night's shows, which he thought were better, but they have board mixes from FOH. They used the previous shows as tech rehearsals.

Re: Remastered albums

Buy some of these and tinker with them until you like the results. Learn how to use it and bring new life to all of your recordings. https://www.izotope.com/en/products.html Or, pay for some other guy in a bedroom studio to do it. That's what is happening here. The guy doing it is not in a mastering...

Re: Newsboys Covering Petra Songs?

Royalties must be paid to do cover songs, so no, there isn't much money in it now. Back in the day, CCM bands on the same label did covers to give the songs some legs with new/different audiences. CCM bands would seed audiences for another artist's tour. It was all about relationships. As an aside f...

RIP Justin Murr

Justin Murr of Liberty N' Justice and Indie Heaven passed from COVID. His daughter posted the sad news on his Facebook page. Justin loved music and really had a heart indie musicians. John and Bob (II Guys) were members of Indie Heaven, as were we (Project Damage Control). RIP Brother!

Re: Petra Performing at Carman Tribute

Never was a Carman fan. Wasn't a Carlton Pearson fan. Never have been a cheesy TBN fan. Jacked up, desperate, no evidence Amway Jesus doctrine works. Hey you kids! Get off my yard!
