Re: The Rapture
First of all, the reason the rapture was not mentioned by name was because it comes from the Latin. The trinity is nowhere in scripture either, but we use the word to describe something that is. No, it's not mentioned because Christians didn't believe in any kind of pre-mil model prior to the 1800s...

Re: The Rapture
I'm currently a partial preterist/post-millenialist. I grew up going to churches that were pre-mil and dispensational, but I quickly moved away from those once I realized that the pre-trib construct has only been around for about 150 years and dispensationalism requires a complete misreading of Scri...

Re: Petra in Venezuela?
With a Christian Rock concert, you can get people to attend who would never set foot on church property As much as I would like to believe this, I have to say that this is not the norm. 1. It was the great commission to the church to go into all of the world and make disciples of all nations. You a...

Re: Petra in Venezuela?
an excellent example of the far-reaching effects that can happen at a concert: Since I knew I would be walking and standing a lot that night, I used a rent wheelchair. This little boy saw me and came over to make sure I could see the stage. As the night went on the band decided to take a short brea...

Re: Other World Religons
Hmm... the reference passage (Matthew 24:14) seems to invalidate the idea that it isn't in the Bible. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. So there's at least superficial evidence that all will be given a fair ...

Sorry, Catholics and Lutherans do not believe that baptism saves.Preacherman777 wrote:Catholics and Lutherans believe in original sin. That is the sin with which we are all born because of Adam's sin. They generally believe this sin will condemn us to Hell if we are not baptised.

Re: Other World Religons
Wait, when did Brent become a Calvinist?
And every Catholic I know vehemently argues against the idea of a sin nature, so I'm not sure how that's Catholic doctrine.

Re: Petra in Venezuela?
Oh, if you only knew..... It was suggested to POOL everyone's resources to help make it happen, showing the math: If we could get at least 50 people that are willing to contribute $200.00…or 200 people willing to contribute $50.00…that’s $10,000! ... just examples of how money adds up and things ha...

Re: Petra in Venezuela?
I'm not saying we can't do both, but this whole thing was started by someone suggesting that people donate $200 for a Petra concert. That's a lot of money to spend on a concert.

Re: Petra in Venezuela?
I will be straight up and say that if I had an extra $200 laying around I would gladly give it towards a Petra concert. Most donations that goes to charities(including ones ran by churches and Christian organizations) goes towards administration costs. Very little if any at all goes to helping some...

Re: New Billboard
I didn't say they didn't know Scripture I said "USUALLY CHURCHES/CHRISTIANS..."
Still, I don't see the need for catchy slogans when we have Scripture, the most powerful tool that we have.

Re: New Billboard
Cleverness isn't necessary when you have Scripture. And usually when I see churches/Christians using cutesy slogans, it's because they don't actually know Scripture.sue d. wrote:Oh, come on. Some of those billboards are very, very clever -- and they just might make someone think a little. You never know.

Re: John to sing Christmas Classics on TBN Dec. 22
Trod....what new bands are there on the charts playing 80s and 90s metal that people associate with Petra's past? You didn't specify 80s/90s metal previously. How many bands playing ANY music from the 80s/90s are hitting it big right now? If we're talking metal in a more generic sense, however, the...
