Re: DREAM TEAM REUNION ANNOUNCED...you read correctly

Less than one song from a band that hasn't played together for 20 years, am I being cynical by expecting a mime?

Re: Can Petra make a comeback

I've seen some of the footage from the Delirious farewell DVD and it looks much better. I was thinking of Delirious while reading this thread. They hung up their boots at the top of the game and went out on a sellout tour, recording a great Farewell DVD at one of London's biggest music venues (pack...

Re: Faith and Freedom

Please name just one new/current tv show on a major television network (NBC,ABC,CBS,FOX) right now on prime time where Christ is exalted, being a Christian is normal, and wanting to be like Christ is something that folks look up to and to want to be like. I think you're expecting what we're told no...

Re: question to ponder

dosen't that mean we should worry about the "eternal destiny of peoples souls"? I said "worry for" not "worry about", in other words we don't need to worry that people won't be saved if Classic Petra becomes financially inviable. It's a vast simplification to start quantifying the price of a salvat...

Re: question to ponder

I'm not sure about the whole "if one person gets saved, then it was all worthwhile..." argument. It sounds logical on the surface "yeah it cost $50,000 to put on that show, but someone was saved, you can't put a price on someones eternal destiny!", but what if $50,000 put towards another method of e...

Re: John Schlitt To Guest On Beyond The Riff, Sunday Oct.2

I'm staunchly pro-life, but often  at the simplistic views conservatives have of the issue. The horrifying truth is that currently abortion is a "solution" to a very serious problem of unwanted children. If the availability of abortion reduces in an significant amount, are we "pro-lifers" up t...

Re: Favorite Praise song covered by Petra.

They finished their set on the No Doubt UK tour with "I stand in awe". David Lichens led it. I thought it was a perfect and humble end to the concert. They finished their main set with a big rocker, people all cheered for more, they came back, did a couple of rocky encores then I stand in awe of you...

I'd always thought the same, but seeing this video the song "clicked" for me for the first time. It's an incredibly moving performance - favourite part is the crowd going wild on the resurrection line!

Re: Missteps

2 missteps in my opinion:
1) no live album released during the dreamteam era
2) not calling it quits after Wakeup Call (controversial I know, but I bet that's what everyone's thinking! :P )

Re: Dream Team 2012!!!

So Classic Petra and Farewell Petra? That makes very little sense. If John Schlitt is involved, then even if they can't get Cates on board (though I expect the could), they'd have Schlitt, Hartman, Weaver, Lawry and Kelly. Just swap lead singers! What they really need to do is get the Classic and Dr...

Re: London gig cancelled

doesn't surprise me. I went to the No Doubt tour in London (I believe this was Petra's last visit to the UK) and the venue was no more than 1/4 full. To be fair, they had picked Brixton Academy as the venue, with a capacity of 4000!

RIP David Wilkerson

Sure, he was never a big friend of the Christian Rock scene, but he achieved so much in his life for God through teen challenge, Times Square Church and his writings. Thousands of lives changed for ever thanks to his witness. He was an example to us all. Well done, good and faithful servant, go and ...
