Re: Politics

No, and here is why: many folks can not seem to talk politics, they yell politics. Also, this is Petra fan board. I'm pretty sure there are message boards dedicated to political discussion. And one more thing, let's not kid ourselves,a political forum would probably be U.S. centered, if previous po...

Re: Petra 1982 Without Him Live in Camouflage

It's his song so I guess he can do whatever he wants... Have you ever heard Jerusalem live? Their songs gets like a new melody every time they play. That's a bit frustrating when you're used to the studio albums. Never had the opportunity with Jerusalem. And I know its me. I love and appreciate ter...

Re: Poll: Back to the Street (1986)

When it came out...hated it. I only like a couple of songs on it. I hated John's voice and the sound of the band. It was not until I met him later and experienced him live that I started appreciating John as a more manly rock singer...even when he was tucking his pants in his white boots and wearin...

Re: Poll: Washes Whiter Than (1979)

Solid album. Not one of my favorites, but I still like it. I voted for "Magic Mirror". Bottom 5 album for me. Listen to it rarely(well more than Double Take). Production is far from timeless and sounds rushed. But having listened to other albums from that era, just seemed to have been the style tha...

Re: Rate: Never Say Die (1981)

This is the first one where I would really have a hard time choosing one. My mind says either "Chameleon" or "Angel of Light", but my heart says "For Annie". I'm gonna think about this one for a while. This has grown into a favourite album of the GXV era. Maybe its me, but I feel some of the most s...

Re: Petra 1982 Without Him Live in Camouflage

Slick was a great player. It's my own personal thing, but Volz going all over the place with vocals in each verse (or word!) drives me insane. It ruins the song for me. It's like a guitar player doing a solo for the whole song. He's gifted and a man of God, but This is ROCK BABY, not R & B.\ (phew, ...

Me as well. But I need to be in the mood to listen to this album. My Pethead days started with More Power to Ya and earlier albums have never gotten their fair shake from me.

I choose not to vote. Every group has to start somewhere, but to me, this album is barely listenable.

Re: Poll: More Power to Ya (1982)

lol, I am the one vote for All over me. Took me years to even listen to this song without skipping it. As I have aged, the bluesy feel of it and I feel a great and emotional vocal performance by Volz. Very basic lyrics and even music I suppose, but has been very powerful for me over the last 5 or 6 ...

Re: Poll: Not of this World (1983)

Very weak album for me; I was around and a fan at the time and just remember some talking(including me) on how disappointed we were just coming from More Power To Ya. This album is most likely a bottom 5 album in my opinion. Hard one for me too. I love God Pleaser (took my vote) as a personal state...

Re: Poll: Beat the System (1985)

One of the first Petra albums I truly loved and played over and over. Adonai is such a powerful anthem that I will often sing/play it prior to my personal devotion time. Witch Hunt is way to techno for me. JDB with too much time and not enough sleep!! Love all the first 4 songs too. For me, the live...

Out of curiosity, does he drive for a specific act or "freelances it" (no idea how else to say it).

Pastor Appreciation Month

Hi Petheads,

Just found out October is "Officially" pastor appreciation month.

Does anyone else (and this appears to be Canada/USA thing) do anything special for this?

Although not a big U2 fan, that's definitely a story you can tell your kids and grand kids.

That's really cool.
