Re: More concert dates

I've been surprised to see all the activity on Facebook surrounding this band and the reunion tour that is taking place over the summer. Where have all these fans been the last few years? I mean, there's barely been a blip of interest about Petra on social media for several years and all of a sudden...

Re: analysis: Why do we stop exploring new music as we get older?

It's a double whammy for CCM fans. People mature spiritually, which can change preferences. This statement tracks. I really used to like Newsboys but man, It's the same thing over and over. Like the songwriters are stuck in 4th grade. They had some growth right up until Going Public and Take me to ...

Re: More concert dates

To those of you able to see Petra Live and in concert I am jealous. It's been decades since I've been able to hear some of their songs, and anything after Unseen Power was just not in the cards. I encourage anyone with the ability to attend a Petra show to do just that....go!

Ted Kirkpatrick of Tourniquet

I'm not sure how many people are fans of the band Touniquet, but founding drummer and principal member Ted Kirkpatrick has died This was posted by his wife on facebook. I really enjoyed Tourniquet, they were heavy, but they were authentic creative and high quality. I was always happy that they never...

Re: RIP Carman Licciardello

You aren't alone. the school prayer argument sure is old and tired. Especially when you actually study history and learn about the terrible things that still took place when there was mandated publicly led prayer. The real reason I wasn't a fan is the song is pretty blah. and it is 100 percent Carma...

I like the new Styx album. Really nice to hear new music from some talented musicians. Old music you might enjoy includes Poor Old Lu, especially the Sin album.

Carman, huh? Wow... I guess it never occurred to me that he was that old.
He told everyone he was cured of some disease. Kinda sounded like a fraudster near the end. Sad

Re: The Jesus Music movie trailer

It's a KLOV production. Don't expect much grit. In true Christian entertainment fashion , very little attention given to the true pioneers. Instead DC Talk is elevated in importance and Petra is minimized. Phil Keaggy and others barely mentioned. cCM music fans don't care for music that has aged, or...

Re: Petra should have a greatest hits album.

Petra has so many greatest hits albums that I thought this thread was a really funny, yet sarcastic commentary on the unusually high number of greatest hits offerings.

Re: The Jesus Music movie trailer

Stryper has repeatedly stated they were not Petra listeners. They did not come up through the ccm labels, or venues. Instead they took the more standard approach and their biggest influence is probably Van Halen. Maybe some Boston or Thin Lizzy, but certainly not Petra. Heck, they still pretty much ...

Re: Petra cassettes

Why on earth would you ever want to listen to tapes? Years ago I was at a Stryper show in Houston and was chatting up the other patrons around me. One guy was also a Petra fan and we started talking about our favorite albums. The conversation started out nice, but then the dude said something pecul...

Re: Remastered albums

When someone gets their hands on these I'd appreciate an honest, non biased review. For me I would be more interested in a BB or Unseen Power remaster. Maybe I'm thinking remix.... either way I'd like to hear more guitar, less drum.
