Re: Louie Weaver
I assume there's more to this story. I didn't know Louie was having health problems. Not unexpected in a fellow his age, but still troubling.

Re: NEW STRYPER VIDEO
Great production, too. The instruments are distinct, Michael's vocals are in a "pocket", the drums have snap and punch, and the mix isn't saturated in bass and compressed to the point that the waveform looks like a brick. There are peaks and valleys and some actual dynamic range. It's not an obnoxio...

Re: NEW STRYPER VIDEO
Yeah, "For God and Rock and Roll" is a strong track. Honestly, I'm not hearing anything on this album that I don't like. It's solid and consistent. It's rather amazing that a band as old as Stryper is still putting out new and fresh sounding albums and actively touring. That's better than even some ...

Re: NEW STRYPER VIDEO
"This I Pray" could be a Bon Jovi song. One of my favorites on the album.

Re: NEW STRYPER VIDEO
Managed to get it a day early. Very good album. It has more of a "classic" Stryper sound than their previous few albums, sounding almost like something that could have been released in the 80s but also modern at the same time. It's a little hard to describe.

Re: New project TUOSS
Took me a bit to wangle out what "TUOSS" was referring to: The Union of Sinners and Saints. Been hearing rumors for over a year that new material is on the way at some indeterminate point in the future, but not even their official website says a peep about it. Their last news update was 15-months ag...

Re: Blinded eyes
The vocals on Not of This World are credited to Bob Hartman, Greg X. Volz, John Slick, Mark Kelly, and Louie Weaver; however, if my ears serve me correctly, on this track, I hear Mark Kelly predominantly on BGVs. Shows how worthless liner notes are since I'm certain Louie Weaver never sang on any P...

Re: New pic from 1974
With, not in. There are lots of people who have jammed with them. I would love to have a recording of that gig. Of course I really doubt one exists, because how could they have possibly known at the time that they were "making history" that people would actually care about nearly 50-years later?

Re: New pic from 1974
So Phil Keaggy once played with Petra. That's one for the trivia books!

Re: NEW STRYPER VIDEO
I've heard the album and will have to say Stryper have taken it to the next level; something that I noticed right away was every song talks directly about Christianity and Jesus & God, unlike any of their other albums where you would get some "love tunes" thrown in. How did you manage to snag an ea...

Re: PETRA Beyond Belief 30th Anniversary Reunion Interview with Ron Roxtar June 25th 2020
Yeah, the Beatles stereo mixes caused a big stink. You like what you know. But, sometimes things get in the way, like tone. Purists don't like what Giles Martin has been up to, that's for sure, but then, purists never like anything but the "untainted" originals. Fortunately, they are such a tiny se...

Re: NEW STRYPER VIDEO
One of the better lyric videos I've seen. Looks like someone actually put some work into it instead of just using stock backgrounds and canned After Effects animations.

Re: PETRA Beyond Belief 30th Anniversary Reunion Interview with Ron Roxtar June 25th 2020
I didn't care for the sound of this record. I true remix would have been great. How about something like David Gilmore recently did for Pink Floyd's "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason" where he recorded new instruments to replace some of the original recording? Primarily Nick Mason recorded a new all aco...

Re: PETRA Beyond Belief 30th Anniversary Reunion Interview with Ron Roxtar June 25th 2020
Wow, has it really been 30-years? I remember going to the mall with my friend to buy this album on cassette. This was Petra at their absolute peak, at least in terms of popularity and albums sales. Some might argue musically, too, but I think that came a few years later with Wake Up Call . It great...
