Re: Bride– The Worm
It's hard to tell with Dale Thompson sometimes because he has some rather interesting ideas about theology. For instance, I know he's a big proponent of universalism, which is the belief that everybody will repent one way or another, and that hell will eventually be emptied, which is obviously not ...

Re: Bob Hartman
Bob is an interesting character. He's an extremely talented guy, great song writer, great guitar player, a better than average singer, yet there are a lot of people who probably have no idea who is, and I get the sense that he's perfectly fine with that.

Re: Well, this isn't good
This made me laugh. The lack of specifics means that everybody can agree with the general sentiments of this thread while thinking of completely different things.

Re: The new Petra record of 1984
Should Petra have not changed their sound to try to continue to appeal to a younger crowd? I suppose that question would have a different answer if it had worked. Unfortunately, the new sound didn't seem to appeal to anybody, so not only did they not gain new fans, they lost old fans. It can be ver...

Re: New Petra Project
I always assumed that was Bob doing a quick slide up a string during the solo, but now that I listen to it closely, it doesn't correspond with any chord/note changes. Feedback perhaps? A happy accident? Or a sound effect that was deliberately added to the mix because JDB thought it sounded cool? Com...

Re: 1979 Petra Live Audio Miscellaneous
I love Beat The System , although I recognize it was far from being a team effort. I remember reading an interview where Mark Kelly said that neither he nor Louie played a single lick on the record. It was all Bob and Greg, so I guess you could call it the original "II Guys From Petra" album! And, p...

Re: Greg on Coloring Song
The only other Petra album that has been recut after the test pressing phase is Captured In Time And Space (I don't remember which side), but I have no idea what was altered. It could have been just a cutting glitch that needed fixing, rather than a ditched track/piece of a track/bit of talking. I'...

Re: Greg on Coloring Song
Bob actually talks about it in the More Power To Ya devotional on how "Killing My Old Man" was originally recorded for Come & Join Us but was dropped because of the label and was rerecorded later for NSD. I know "The Coloring Song" was originally done by the group GXV was in in the 70's. Right. But...

Re: Greg on Coloring Song
Pretty sure "Killing My Old Man" was recorded for an earlier album, but StarSong was afraid the lyrics would be misunderstood as promoting rebellion against parents. Apparently they changed their mind for the release of Never Say Die.

Re: 1982 - Petra Live in Atlanta
I apologize if my tone sounded harsh, no need for that. No worries. My skin is an inch thick and tough as old leather. It takes a lot more than that to offend me. Speaking of Greg and guitars, there's a moment in Captured in Time and Space when a stage hand runs a guitar out to him but forget...

Re: 1982 - Petra Live in Atlanta
Mountain Man. I have played Guitar in many bands, at my church and all around since 1986. That is my instrument. Greg is playing correctly and confidently, and the right chords for Angel of Light, even the minor G chord on the chorus, while singing. He is very capable, just listen to what he does o...

Re: The new Petra record of 1984
And see, I've always thought that Jekyll & Hyde sounds like the natural follow-up to Wake-Up Call. I would rather skip the albums between those two than the albums between Not Of This World and No Doubt.
