Re: Star Song Greatest hits releases
All remastering means most of the time is more compression, more volume, and more EQ. Louder doesn't always sound better. The Loudness Wars were one of the worst thing to ever happen to music. One of the worst example I've personally heard was "I Love Rock n' Roll" by Joan Jett. The original record...

Re: New Petra Project
Part of it is that there has been so much studio "magic" baked into music for years that I'm not sure a band would even be recognizable if they did play live. But that's not an entirely new thing. When making Beach Boys records, Brian Wilson would have as many as 50 instruments on a single song and ...

Re: New Petra Project
Does anybody have both versions of the album so they can do a comparison? I distinctly recall people saying at the time that each album featured a different mix. I have both, but no clue as to how to do a comparison :-( I just meant listen to songs from one and then those sames songs on the other. ...

Re: New Petra Project
Both albums are CDr productions and were only available for a very short time. As far as I know, it's the same music. The second one is remastered and has 10 minutes of band chat. I don't think it was remixed or anything like that. Does anybody have both versions of the album so they can do a compa...

Re: New Petra Project
Found them on Discogs. Apparently the albums were called Back to the Rock "Live" (with the quotes), and Back to the Rock "Live" Expanded. According to the track listing, the "expanded" version also adds some of the talking from the band members that was missing from the first release.

Re: New Petra Project
I spoke with Mark for a while after the TBN taping and asked him how it felt to be back in the band. He said that ever since he left Petra, he always felt like he had sold his birthright. He was thrilled to be playing Petra songs again, and he seemed genuinely happy miming his way through the songs...

Re: New Petra Project
They did formally retire. There were press releases, interviews, etc. They did a retirement tour and produced a DVD. They all had REAL life reasons not to continue (age, family, time, money, lack of demand, etc). According to them, they believe God told them it was time to end. If God wanted them t...

Re: New Petra Project
Honestly, if it takes work, go for it! Petra shouldn't go lazy here! We have to do our best for God, if that's really our purpose, and putting in effort if He even wants it to happen is the least we can do. That's my ten cents. The only thing is that Bob needs to think about funding some sort of a ...

Re: New Petra Project
I have seen some very few bands not bothering with making studio records, but releasing new material through live performances. If Petra ever contemplated going through this route, the benefits are there - no need for costly studio time, no hiring studio cats, no bothering with publishing & distrib...

Re: What if?
I forget who, but someone once asked if he would be open to sharing details with someone wanting to write a biography about Petra. His response was along the lines of "If anybody were to write such a book, it would be me."

Re: Favorite movie(s)?
I'm not a huge movie person, but I love 80s movies! My favorite movie is Karate Kid  Your's? 1984 or 2010? Do you watch Cobra Kai? Loved Karate Kid. Especially I and II. Didn't care as much for III. I think Cobra Kai, is really well done. I got the free trial of youtube Red to binge the fi...

Re: Guitarist Discussion
Another great Angus quote when asked what it was like to be one of the best guitarists in the world:
"I'm not even the best guitarist in AC/DC."
