Re: Christian bands & their secular counterparts
Back in the day, there used to be such a chart on the wall of the music section at the local Christian book store. It was a large poster which listed several popular CCM artists with a “sounds like” section next to the artist name. No idea who published it, and I haven’t been able to find a copy of ...

Re: What if Petra channeled Pantera for their new album?
I guess it would need a rockin’ remake of “Lucas McGraw.”

Re: Christian bands & their secular counterparts
Definitely check out Steve Taylor’s early albums. “I Predict 1990” is a classic.

Re: Christian Progressive Music
There are quite a few Christian progressive artists/bands out there. Some are up front with their beliefs, and some bands have members who are Christians, while the band itself does not necessarily use their music to evangelize. I will list some that come to mind right away, which is meant as neithe...

Re: Christian bands & their secular counterparts
Sometimes you can find musical treasures at Goodwill stores. Finding good CDs there is kind of hit and miss, but it’s good to check every now and then. I notice lately that there doesn’t seem to be as many CDs showing up at pawn shops compared to several years ago. I think they have decided that the...

I Still Believe is by The Call. See album: Reconciled. Russ Taff covered The Call, and now The Union... has as well.

Re: Christian bands & their secular counterparts
John Elefante doesn’t sing for Kansas, he was on two of their albums and one extra song between 82-84. He does carry a little bit of that influence into some of his solo work, but I would not list him as a “sounds like Kansas.”

I love that app! It has become my go-to music app while doing yard work. I have stopped mowing many times to check the phone display when hearing a song that I didn’t know. Have discovered some “new” artists, and some that I just didn’t give a proper listen to before.

GH, it’s coming out in August. It’s called “Without Words.” I have no idea who else plays on it, but apparently someone convinced Dennis Cameron to release a guitar album. There is more information on the Girder Music site.

At least you won’t have to worry about keeping track of singers on the new album. I believe it’s all instrumental.

Re: Volz & Livgren
I’m trying to remember the first time I read about the Kerry Livgren cantata. No exaggeration, it’s been over twenty years for sure. Maybe much longer, so yes he’s been working on it for quite a while. It’s supposed to be called “The Resurrection of Lazarus.” By the way, hello. I’m new posting here!
