Petra on Classic Radio

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AD23pnqmvNI So this is the 100,000 watt Christian radio station that I listened to growing up as a kid and later teen. They were sold in 95, but they were very popular in the early to mid 90s. I had always heard that it was the first CCM station in America, they had ...

Re: Russ Taff

I apologize for being a bit unclear, Jim was speaking only of himself not Russ. He said that he (Jim) didn't get saved until much later in life, despite singing about it. I only bring this up as a parallel to the video and to support the general premise of CCM being human and more like us than not. ...

Re: Russ Taff

The link is no longer working, but if it is what I think it is I had heard about it a few years ago. I remember seeing Jim Murray in our town nearly 20 years ago and he said that he had not had a real conversion experience with Christ until years after he left the Imperials.

Re: Favorite Petra concert

Wake-Up Call in Lakeland, probably 9000+ people there! Night of Joy in the early 90s was hard to beat. I was young and don't remember what year and album but saw them there at least twice between 89-94. Classic Petra the first go-round was a kick because I do love that incarnation and thought I woul...

I am surprised there are no votes for Jekyll & Hyde. I thought people loved that album.
As I said it really isn't comparable to the 90s stuff. It was a different time and different Petra

Re: Which Classic Christian Rock Band Was the Most Popular?

You shouldn't include Stryper. They were/are a secular band playing to secular audiences. Christian bands played to predominantly Christian audiences, and were part of the Christian music industry. It will be hard to compare sales, since CCM didn't track and audit sales like secular bands and retai...

Re: Favourite Petra Album 1990-2003

God Fixation The thing with God Fixation is that "If I Had to Die for Someone" is good and "St. Augustine's Pears" is really good. Pears is so good in fact that I think it could go head to head with just about any other Petra song. It's at least a 9... but the rest of the album is just not up to th...

Re: Favourite Petra Album 1990-2003

I must agree, WUC may be their best sounding (sonically) ever. Most certainly of the Schlitt era. It has aged very well! It may not be as memorable as say, On Fire - Unseen Power, but the sound holds up better. Wake Up Call . After years of the over-processed Elefante sound (which I do enjoy despite...

Re: Favourite Petra Album 1990-2003

This is an odd grouping, perhaps you should have done 90-99. It's not fair to pit JH against Petra prime... Petra Prime, sounds like another best of album?

It might be interesting to hear then re-cut Back to the Street. Or even redo the first two records.

I do love these guys. But why does Greg insist on wearing that "lightning" shirt as every concert?
