Re: Christian bands & their secular counterparts

I know of a lot of other classic Christian bands but I can't think of who they compare too  I should make a list, there might even be more than 100 if you count some of the smaller ones Yeah, I've thought about doing that before, may be I will. I always include the smaller ones, sometimes the...

Re: Christian bands & their secular counterparts

As for Rez, I definitely hear Grace Slick in Wendy's vocals, while Glenn Kaiser's voice is hard to compare. Maybe Joe Cocker, but Glenn is much better in my opinion. Glenn Kaiser = Bob Seger. Listen to Hollywood Nights and tell me you can't hear Glenn Kaiser. Now that you mention it, you're right!

Re: Christian bands & their secular counterparts

I would love some and the ones for back to the street are in much bigger quantities and a lot cheaper than the CDs, even than normal LPs, but I don't have a record player so there really isn't much of a point You probably have a relative or neighbor that has a record player laying around that they ...

Re: Dä

I listened to the list you gave me, sickasadog, and you have now convinced me that they actually are pretty good :) I don't know if I can ever learn to like Darn floor though.... But thank you for giving me another band to listen to 8) :) I am sad that Vox Humana isn't on Spotify  Oh well, it ...

Re: Christian bands & their secular counterparts

There are 2 Da songs that I have heard- Darn floor- big bite, which I don't like, and Fathers arms which I do, and I don't know what Triumph sounds like, so with those ones I'm not of much help. I should really listen to more of certain people; it just takes so much time. DA has so many different s...

Re: Christian bands & their secular counterparts

As for Stryper, their guitar tone reminds me of Hysteria-era Def Leppard while Michael Sweet's voice is reminds me of early Geoff Tate (Queensryche) or Bruce Dickenson (Iron Maiden) but still very unique. As for Rez, I definitely hear Grace Slick in Wendy's vocals, while Glenn Kaiser's voice is hard...

Re: Petra on Spotify

Guardian actually has albums under two profiles... Imagine my surprise when I found the other profile and heard some death metal album... And then an electronic one , all under guardians name. Realised pretty quick that it was different... But at first I was wondering why guardian became a death me...

Re: Thoughts on Christian Rock

No problem! They have other Christian music stations on that site as well. The requesting is good, but you can only easily request songs that they have in their catalogs. However, I have successfully requested songs by email (by Daniel Amos, Stryper, Daniel Band, Resurrection Band, and the 77s) and ...

Re: Thoughts on Christian Rock

Love the old pic of the Resurrection Band you posted! I still listen to quite a bit of the classic Christian Rock. Stryper is still making incredible music so you should check out some of their songs since they got back together. Here are my favourites: Yahweh, Fallen, The Calling, King of Kings, Lo...

Re: Looking for Wise Council...

I agree that secular music has a lot to offer. I listen to a lot of secular music in addition to Christian music, and I think you are really missing out if you completely limit yourself. Do we limit ourselves to Christian movies or TV programs? Do we only associate with other Christians? As long as ...

Re: CPR

Dream On was a very important song for Steven Tyler. He knew that he had something special with it and that it was the key to launching the band. Aerosmith were real nobody's that Columbia Records didn't see much potential in. They were pouring money and production into Bruce Springsteen and giving ...

Re: Sweet & Schlitt

I think Stryper should cover the top five Petra rock tunes and "Petra" should cover the top five Stryper ballads. If Stryper were covering Petra, I would be most interested in the following: Judas' Kiss This Means War! He Came, He Saw, He Conquered Kenaniah Armed and Dangerous All the songs rock, a...
