...even if it [Double Take] did turn out to be a bad move. Well, it did win a (in my opinion well-deserved) Grammy, so it can't have been all that bad. At any rate, I can honestly say that I like every single album Petra ever put out. Sure, there might be a song or two I don't much care for, but ov...

Re: marketable

What I'm getting at is that Word dropped the ball... It went a little further than that just them dropping the ball, actually. I happened to attend the GMA week the year Double Take was released, and I recall that Word's press packet for Petra consisted of a folder, inside the folder was a one shee...

Re: ?

What i wanna know is how did StarSong/Sparrow records get the rights to finally include songs from the Word Catalogue like "Beyond Belief" - praise the Lord if it is the case, coz then we get an real ultimate collection that combines the full 33 year showcase... I already have that. It's called my ...

Anyone that doesn't agree with everything they do should no say a word!
I find it amusingly ironic that your thread title calls them "Inpoop". Freudian slip?

So what's the story? I don't really feel like listening to the whole interview.

did anybody know that greg volz was offered the singing job in reo speedwagon buut turned it down! The story I heard was that he actually blew the audition. According to my friend (whom I believe heard the story from Volz himself; they know each other quite well), Volz wanted to make a grand entran...

John Schlitt can sing better than most lead singers half his age. Personally, I love the rawness and fervor of his performance on "Farewell", and whatever "strain" that might be evident is par for the course for any live recording.

I'm sorry but Greg's vocals are so overated. In his prime he had a three-octave perfect pitch voice. I'd hardly classify that as overrated. They don't even fit into the rock theme Petra was and is. On the contrary, during the time Volz was with the band, he had a quintessential guitar rock voice in...

Pretty good, yes, but not amazing. I don't even know if I would classify John Schlitt as amazing even though I love his voice. Now Greg Volz in the 80's was amazing.

Re: key changes?

When it comes to Greg X Volz not being up to par I strongly disagree... It's quite apparent from the Farewell recording that he certainly doesn't have the pipes he used to. Listen to "Grave Robber" on Captured in Time and Space where he effortlessly hits every note in the song. On Farewell, he audi...

Re: y

I know Bon Jovi sings his older stuff live it is alot more low than the actual studio versions. I saw their set from the Live8 deal, and Jon Bon Jovi it seems doesn't even try to hit the high notes any more as they were provided by a track. He'd stop singing, let the track take it for a few seconds...

I wouldn't call his voice "amazing". He's a good back-up singer, but he never really had the chops to carry the lead. Just listen to his solo project, Media Alert, to hear what I mean.

My chief complaint is that John Lawry's solo was far too short on the CD. They should have given it another minute at least.

I've noticed this as well and thought something had happened to the volume levels when I ripped the CD to my iPod, but apparently, it's not just me. To my ears, though, it sounds like the volume begins to dip some time during the rock medely.
