Re: Petra on 60 mins (1985)

Some of those "rock is of the devil" folks were into some pretty nasty stuff themselves. It's really the double standard I have trouble with though...They condemned others when they were doing their share of messing up and not following the Bible. You should take a look at yourself before you start ...

Re: CPR

I'm sorry to hear about Johnny's health issues. It can be tricky when you can't see or hear someone. It can be easy to read more into what you read on a messageboard than is intended; it's probably wise not to take this stuff personally. We all have our opinions, taste and favorite Petra eras. That ...

Re: Pushing too many boundaries

I would be careful in this case if the aim is to conclude that without Stryper in all their big-hair spandex-attired glory this guy would not have been saved. I'll let Mountain Man clarify if he wants to, but I don't think he's trying to say the guy wouldn't or couldn't have been saved without Stry...

Re: Pushing too many boundaries

What? Drama queens in the music/entertainment industry? Never! In fairness, you can find drama queens anywhere; you just don't hear about all of them. Every band will have it's drama to some extent. It goes with the territory.

Re: Pushing too many boundaries

I saw that a few days ago, and it took me a minute to realize it was a play on words. :P They probably could have come up with a better title, but as was pointed out the shock value thing shouldn't be a surprise. I love Michael's voice, but I prefer their early stuff.

Re: Stryper question

I won't speculate about their circumstances or conflict since I don't know them personally and don't know anything other than what I've seen on the Internet. I will say he'd be wiser not to deal with this publicly. If God couldn't use people who have gone through divorces or have had relationship is...

Re: Stryper question

When it gets right down to it, anyone claiming to be a believer should be doing their best to live that way. That doesn't just apply to people who have to deal with the public or are in your favorite band. We all mess up. If we didn't, there would have been no reason for Jesus to die. It's possible ...

Re: Homosexuals and the Russian Orthodox Church

Okay, I agree going to this extreme isn't the way to handle this, and isn't likely to change anything. I think it's important to keep in mind that the Bible is clear about homosexuality being a sin. It's also important to understand homosexuality is not the only sin the Bible talks about. You need t...

Re: Privacy nonsense

It is true that the Internet is a necessary tool for most people. I get that the government shouldn't be allowed to have free access to whatever information they want, but there are no easy answers. Maybe if the government was required to allow access to their information in return they wouldn't be ...

Re: Privacy nonsense

A very interesting topic. Generally privacy is rather overlooked and I think we are accepting way too much mass superveillance all over the world. Many people will say "I have nothing to hide" and that may even be true. But that is not the situation in which all individuals find themselves. And how...

Re: Privacy nonsense

That is a good article. The fact is, the only way you could be totally sure your information wouldn't be out there would be to not have Internet or not have cable. The media has a way of spreading horror stories. I could get along vey well without cable, and if I had to make a choice, that would be ...

Re: CPR

I always paid more attention to the music than any dancing, and I only saw Greg a few times. The majority of the Petra concerts I went to were when John was with them. It was the message that really counted, and God can and does use imperfect people to communicate His message. If He needed perfect p...
