Re: Petra back to the rock 3
Nah. I doubt they will. It is too hard to recoupe expenses. With the global economy being what it is, it will be harder than it was pre covid. Any new and original music will be written by Greg for the most part. You can hear his music on his solo releases.

Re: Petra cassettes
Have your CDs recorded onto tape. Don't get rid of them. What will you do WHEN you have drop-out, or your machine eats the tape? Tapes are inferior in every way to CDs. They have much lower stereo channel separation and signal-to-noise. They have print-through effect (which is when you hear a phanto...

Re: Petra should have a greatest hits album.
They don't have any more hits to keep all of the greatest hits albums from being the same. Oh, they have been remastered and such, but they aren't necessarily better than another. Besides, all you need to do is burn your own, stream your own playlist, etc. No reason to purchase anything.

Re: Which albums actually feature Louie's drumming?
My recollection of the conversations was sequencing of the songs was done first, and then the live drum tracks were added as overdubs on top of the sequences, click tracks, etc. Back in the day, before Steven Slate Drums, EZ Drummer and all of the stuff we have today, it wasn't as easy as it is to d...

Re: Which albums actually feature Louie's drumming?
According to Louie, the only record he really played drums on was the weed record by the sonic flood guys. Of course he recorded drums, but he did more overdubbing and the songs had samples. The songs were mapped out by the E brothers and John L on drum machines, etc. I spoke to Louie and John L abo...

Re: Remastered albums
The first pressings for Star Song Petra CDs were done in Japan. BTS, BTTS and TMW all exist in Japanese pressings for the US market. The second set of pressings were done in the UK. MPTY, NOTW and BTS were pressed between July 1986 and September 1987 at a UK pressing plant called Disctec. These wer...

Re: Remastered albums
The two formerly 'missing' tracks on the 'Washes Whiter Than' remaster appear to have been sourced from vinyl. Listen carefully and you can hear the odd giveaway. In fact, the pops and flutters match exactly with the WAV files of those songs, that I uploaded to this very forum a couple of years ago...

Re: The Jesus Music movie trailer
Stryper has repeatedly stated they were not Petra listeners. They did not come up through the ccm labels, or venues. Instead they took the more standard approach and their biggest influence is probably Van Halen. Maybe some Boston or Thin Lizzy, but certainly not Petra. Heck, they still pretty much...

Re: The Jesus Music movie trailer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsrrgSoForE I was hoping someone else would have touched on this by now. How much credit will the earliest pioneers of CCM get? Without Petra, there would be no Newsboys, Skillet, Stryper, etc. I feel like they'll get "the shaft" just like with the CCM anniversary sp...

Re: Remastered albums
Unless one of the remaining old guys like Bernie Grundman did it, I don't know how good it could be. They say you have to spend 10,000 hours to master an instrument or a related field. But, I would take the vinyl to have it for my grandkids, so they could know what Christian rock and record players ...

Re: Remastered albums
I have compared two albums, lining up the first gen CD releases with the remastered. This process is kind of boring, but, I had to do some gain matching to be able to invert polarity of the remastered tracks so I could hear what is going on. Basically, the remasters are about 4dB hotter +/-, and the...

Even if it has been stored properly, it's good for one more pass getting the oxide shredded by those spinning heads at 3.75 IPS.
