top 500

Here in the central PA they are doing a countdown of the top 500 songs as voted by listeners. Petra came in at, I believe, number 378 for Grave Robber. They also mentioned that it was one of 13 songs for Petra. I thought that was pretty good. Will be interesting to see how high they get and what the...

absolutely :!: I don't care to see any democrat in office. Kerry is a nightmare. We don't want the Whitehouse to be serving waffles anytime soon.

Tom may have been a Reagan supporter, but I'm sure many were. He was a likeable guy and he was an actor at one time. Ahnold may be a republican by association only. I will say that he is republican in that he has strong beliefs about the way in which things should be done and unlike the Dems he's no...

Yeah, Stephen seems like he is on the right track. There was great article in CCM awhile back where he was having a conversation with some (can't remember who) is New York City restaurant and his brother Alec walked in and joined the conversation. It's printed in the magazine. Great stuff. Hannity i...

From the Romans passages I think one could make a reasonable argument that stopping the evil of Saddam Hussein and helping the people over there was reason enough to og over there and take him out. You might even take that so far as to say that we dropped the ball by not taking him out during the fi...

romans

I believe the passage in Romans that has been quoted may not necessarily refer to a specific government or leaders, but rather the institution of government itself coming from God. Remember that there was a time early on in the Old Testament where you didn't have a human government. It also talks in...

voting

I think I will vote for John Kerry, before I vote for George Bush.

How about we let them both have power at the same time. Bush can win the war on terror, Kerry can ruin the economy, and Bush can take him out back and beat the snot out of him!

their website.

They make a lot of good points on their site and give people something to think about. However, I maintain that none of that stuff has anything to do with whether the music can be good or not, whether it can be used by God. For every Christian artist that does bad, I'm sure you can find a non christ...

my take

I have seen this site and others like it. My impression is that they don't really deal with what they really believe. Their base belief is tat modern music: pop, rock, etc. are not neutral music forms, they are wordly or of the devil. They don't really deal with that though, perhaps because it is an...

money and theology

I don't know anyone who says that Mel made this movie for the money. What people are saying is just understand who gets the money. The church is flocking to this movie and shelling out a lot of money and there are great Christian bands like Petra, Christian organizations, missionaries, etc., who are...

Mel

I think Winterlens is on the right track. I posted some comments from a PAstor on another board and some people didn't like them, but I think they are valid. The pastor was making a response to the people of his church as he was getting many questions about the movie. As their leader he wanted them ...

what paul said

I think what Paul meant by what he said, at least the way I took it was that if two unlievers are married and one gets saved, if the other wants nothing to do with becoming a christian then the christian has the right to divorce. I think that if two genuine believers enter into a marraige, there is ...

wake up call

Love the pounding drums and rhythms on Wake Up Call. So, that's what a real drum kit sounds like. That was a welcome change for me. The first time I heard Petra live was after the Unseen Power album released, and to me the sound was very weak compared to the CD. Especially the drums. That could have...

what about this

A lot of prophecy concerning the restoration of Israel includes a spiritual restoration. We did not see that in 1948, we only saw the establishment of a nation. The purpose of the tribulation is for the spiritual restoration of Israel. If is Israel was set aside, as Paul talks about, because they re...
