Re: Zoom concert
It sounds easy. Technically it's not. Those things you are seeing on Zoom and Youtube are not live events. They are pre-produced. The same was true for the thing lady Ga Ga did on TV. All of that was pre-recorded. She was singing into the backside of the Neumann mic, which rejects sound and yields a...

Re: Guitarist Discussion
It just goes to show that the sum is much greater than the individuals and good songs trump everything.

Re: Guitarist Discussion
Another great Angus quote when asked what it was like to be one of the best guitarists in the world: "I'm not even the best guitarist in AC/DC." I would agree with him on that. I really like his playing and while admitting that it is a lot harder to play his stuff than you would initially think in ...

Re: New Petra Project
Greg is a great guy, fast worker, and he likes to play more aggressively (musically and tonally) than he is allowed to play in the context of Petra. Plus, he is inexpensive to feed. He was happy to get McDonald's when I picked him up from the airport. Brent, you're a cool guy ⭐️ Millions would say ...

Re: New Petra Project
Right. I agree. Some bands are personality-driven. Some are song-driven. Most people attending Foreigner shows don't know or care that Foreigner is 100% cover band from time to time. Not one person on stage is on any of their hit records. It was the music that drew people. People didn't really know ...

Re: New Petra Project
Well, some members of Petra were essentially hired guns, without equity, ownership, creative input or ability to borrow against royalties. There can be legal reasons (contracts, business arrangements) for not bringing new members in. It's all relative. Consider The Stones.

Re: New Petra Project
What about layered rhythm guitar and solos coming from one pair of hands and one guitar or stacks of GVX only backing vocals? The sad thing is, there is a generation of kids accepting fakery as the norm. They wouldn't know a real live show if it bit them.

Re: New Petra Project
Both of them have the same backing tracks (the album as recorded at Johns studio). They played to the tracks when the video was shot and then John went back and mixed in live parts, fixed things. His words.
The broadcast mix WAS the album.

Re: Star Song Greatest hits releases
According to Richard Green, all of the production master assets are in the label vault. I don't know if he meant the analog or Sony 1630s that were so prevalent back then. The 1630 was the actual digital source pressing plants used. If the budgets were low, they could very well have used the CD or D...

Two members, attitudes, business arrangements.
It's not enough to "learn to get along" as some have said. Reunions give new meaning to the movie title "Back to the Future".

Re: New Petra Project
Maybe flop is the wrong word. There is more to it than attendance.
