Re: Petra should do a live concert cd

I'm not sure I agree. You can find live concerts from that period on YouTube, and honestly, Petra sounds great. Never said it did not sound great. I only said it did sound different. The Elefantes may have loved their studio magic, but Petra was still 5 world class musicians who could tear it up on...

Re: Petra should do a live concert cd

My theory is that we never got a live recording by the dream team because the sound we all associated with them is rather hard to maintain when playing live. A lot of the Elefante stuff simply is not the sound of 5 people playing instruments and singing. It has been so over processed and sounds noth...

Re: Petra should do a live concert cd

Sorry for those of you who have had a hard time with my posts. It seems some of you are both very eager to point out it is an old thread and then go straight ahead and post in it yourself. I liked Brent's answer and did not mean to cause any trouble.

Re: New Song (Fool Runnin) John Schlitt, John Lawry and Rex Carroll

I like the song. Nice riffs, guitar tone, solo and bridge. Chorus is a bit strange and too much auto tune of John thiugh I agree to some extent. My problem is that I find the the chorus too strange for the song to really work as a whole. Sounds like good ideas and parts put together without an over...

Re: Re:

First of all, why are you responding to a thread that's 16-years old? What difference does that make? In other contexts I comment on books that are more than 2000 years old. And if you really think it is irrelevant after 16 years, then why are you commenting yourself? I took interest in the...

Re: New Petra Project

Give it the Def Leppard "Viva Hysteria" treatment where they performed the entirety of "Hysteria" live in album order. We could have "This Means War Live", "On Fire Live", "Beyond Belief Live", "Wake Up Call Live", etc. I would totally buy those albums even if they were $50 each! And I was thinking...

Re: Petra should do a live concert cd

I was obviously pointing to the part about double records since I clearly pointed out The Wall is a double record. His statement with regard to that was not correct.

Re: Re:

From a record label stand point, there are two records that never sell well, 1) Live records, 2) double records. Only one live record broke that rule: Peter Frampton. That is not correct. The Wall by Pink Floyd was a double record, and: Nevertheless, the album topped the Billboard charts for 15 wee...

Re: New Petra Project

I am not talking about remakes. I am talking about legendary guys touring their own legendary stuff live. Clapton, Waters, Queen (with Adam Lambert) and others have had different ways of repeating themselves in very interesting and worthy ways. For most fans it would probably be very hard to feel as...

Re: New Petra Project

I think they are past the time where they can get really big again. If they had stayed away longer and not continued in all sorts of incarnations I believe there would have been a huge demand for a dream team reunion or a reunion of as many dream team members as possible celebrating that part of th...

Re: New Petra Project

I know it is pure speculation but I cannot help to wonder what would have happened if No Doubt had been released with Bob on the cover instead of David and then no tour due to Bob's wish to stay at home. And then no records released until J and H, no tour with all sorts of new guys calling themselve...

Yeah! Gee, like, kind of relive the 80s/90s concerts? I would go, but how many more would?
Probably more people than for any other version of Petra. But, I'm not sure it would be that many or that much of a succes financially.

Re: New Petra Project

In my opinion the Classic Petra was the right thing to try after years and years of Petra being John Schlitt and some other guys with or without Bob. I would have guessed there would be greater interest and I still think there might be a chance for the dream team (or an incarnation with most of them...
