Re: First recommendations

Also according to Discogs, John Slick is a player on the first Twenty Twenty album. A detail I definitely forgot, as I have not had a physical copy for quite a while.

Re: First recommendations

Did anyone mention Vector? Their first two albums are great, and pretty different from each other.

Re: First recommendations

September is very good. Also, Twenty Twenty had two albums. The second album is “Altered” and is generally more rocking than the first. Members of White Heart were involved on both albums if memory serves correctly.

This isn't Christian + Secular but The verses for The Finish Line by Steve Taylor
Kind of sounds like the verses for
Shine by Newsboys
Steve Taylor has writing credit on both songs.

Re: Favorite singer poll

To me, Greg sounds better on some of the early albums compared to later on. I would probably count the material on Never Say Die as some of his strongest performances. It’s too hard to vote for a favorite vocalist. I like both Greg and John, and I feel they each brought something unique to the band ...

Re: Which CCR Musician would you meet?

I have met a few CCM artists, with two meetings that stand out as notable. The first was the day I spent running errands for Mylon & Broken Heart during the 86/87 “Look Up” tour. All super nice guys, very friendly and personable. The other was an outdoor concert that John Schlitt was doing at a high...

Re: Songs For Upcoming Concerts

I know Petra with John performed “For Annie.” There were probably other Greg songs as well, but I can’t remember at the moment.

Re: Farewell Petra + John Lawry in Missouri

I think 3 hours driving is all I can manage for an out of town concert. This sounds like a great show. I hope they draw a big crowd.

I couldn’t narrow it down to just one, but some favorites that immediately come to mind are:
I Love You #19
Walls of Doubt
The Double
Little Crosses
Sanctuary
A Sigh For You

Re: 1979 Petra Live Audio Miscellaneous

Regarding the original topic, that is pretty decent quality for a live recording from 1979. Looks like there are also some good clips from 1978 on YouTube that I haven’t seen before. Makes me wonder where the full length original masters are.

Re: 1979 Petra Live Audio Miscellaneous

Doxology the tune, aka “Old 100th” was written in 1551. So no, not by John Slick. He would probably be credited for the arrangement as recorded on the album, however.
