Re: The new Petra record of 1984

It’s not only Petra that struggled with identity during the mid-nineties, though. The entire CCM industry as we knew it was coming to an end. The heyday of big tours and of record labels putting money into artists wanting any kind of creative freedom was over.

Re: New Petra Project

John, it seems like I had heard somewhere but temporarily forgot that you were a part of New England Digital. I absolutely love the sound of the Synclavier. Can you believe those sounds can now be contained in your iPhone? Not exactly the same as the original unit I’m sure, but how far technology ha...

Re: Favorite movie(s)?

I like all Star Wars movies, to varying degrees. I keep going back to Rogue One, and truly consider it to be a near masterpiece in the Star Wars canon. Sure, it has a few flaws, but it is just so good. It has a certain tone and visual appeal that stand out from the other films.

Re: Back to The Street recording dates

So, let’s propose alternate band names. How about “The Lucas McGraw Project.”

Re: Back to The Street recording dates

It could possibly benefit from a fresh mix. Would take far less time and money. That is assuming that the multitrack tapes are available.

Re: Petra March 21, 2020 concert

Mountain Man, I’m also in the live event industry. This is indeed a trying time. We had all of our annual spring events canceled over the last couple of weeks. Hopefully this doesn’t last long. Luckily we also do permanent AV installations, which are generally still proceeding as planned. Stay stron...

Re: Petra should do a live concert cd

I’m actually a big fan of the Elefante production. It didn’t necessarily work 100 percent of the time, but it did seem to inject new life into the band when they really needed it.

Re: New Petra Project

The overall volume on BTTS and TMW CDs is incredibly low compared to albums that came later So turn up the volume! The early Petra albums sound great when played loud. Doesn’t work when playing the CDs on shuffle, because you have to ride the volume for the really loud ones. Sonically, the early CD...

Re: New Petra Project

The CDs of albums that were recorded during the era of CDs do sound acceptable, but there is still room for improvement. The overall volume on BTTS and TMW CDs is incredibly low compared to albums that came later. And no, I’m not advocating for making new editions with no dynamics to compete in the ...

Re: New Petra Project

I would be happy if they re-released all of the back catalogue as deluxe remastered editions. Give us some rare tracks, alternate versions, live material. Do a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project.

Re: Petra should do a live concert cd

Good live albums can really capture a band’s true musical potential. The greatest live albums showcase artists at their spontaneous best, and are usually far less tame and constrained than their studio counterparts.

Re: "Beat the System" Release Date Controversy

It’s so hard to remember that far back. I have thought all these years that it was 1984, probably because any copy I had was labeled with the 1984 copyright date. At least parts of the above info seem to be correct, in that A&M was apparently slated to release it in 1985. The problem with using that...
