Re: Pushing too many boundaries
Yes, you can. Again. READ THEIR OWN WORDS. They have said it from day one. Stryper was not a Christian band, in their peak of success they did not live like Christians. In fact, The guys in Petra did not have much respect for them and how they did things. The whole CCM industry didn't really respect...

Re: Pushing too many boundaries
Dude, you should REALLY read what Mike says in his own words. They wanted ZERO, NOTHING to do with CCM. They didn't have a Christian record deal or distribution. They didn't want it. They wanted to be a band that sang about God, and that is what they were. In their prime, they were not living like C...

Re: John Cooper on Apostasy
I was raised IFB. I believe they were great with facts, truths, evangelism. They were just socially awkward, people repellent, and just too forceful. Mostly take-it-or-leave-it, my way or the highway types. This is why PDC did "Get Away". It's about fundamentalism and the church I grew up in.

Re: John Cooper on Apostasy
First, I have not seen/read the interview in context and will do so when I return from vacation. Second, CCM and the Christian music INDUSTRY has NOTHING to do with The Church. One is a business, owned and managed by secular attornies and investors, to make money selling widgets. The other "legit" e...

Re: Does Brent know?
There are two versions of the album Mechanism. One is the download version. One is the CD version. The original CD release was to have two discs and come in a double LP package. There were to be lots of art and lyrics people can read, just like the old days. We never pressed CDs for retail sale beca...

Re: Katy Perry Allegedly Copies Christian Rap Song, Is Successfully Sued
This isn't over. The problem with this is, the people making these decisions are musically illiterate. This guy sounds well educated and sharp. But, he hasn't really done anything significant in 10 years. He hasn't had significant sales for 15. He is too old to be relevant to the youth at this point...

Re: He Makes Us Move Not Us
I don't think so. God does not make us take steps or ordain all of our steps. That would mean God ordains our sin. Consider this: When we are obedient, we have an ordered walk to walk. That is not to say that God has his hands on our feet, putting them in place. He doesn't. He leads. We can follow.....

Re: Called?
There was no scolding from me. Sorry, you felt like that. I don't understand your thinking, but that's ok. Marriage is completely free-will. In some cultures, including those in the OT, it was a business transaction and love (emotions) had little to nothing to do with it and couples have no choice a...

Re: Called?
I don't live my life by feelings. Now, the Bible says ALL believers are " the called according to His purpose". So, it doesn't matter if I feel it or not. We are all supposed to work out His purpose, being instant in season and out of season. There is a laundry list of our duties, regardless of our ...

Re: Recording process beyond belief etc
I LOVE THAT stuff, Phil Keaggy had an album like that. He listed amps, guitars, etc, etc only nerds would like. The one and only time I had a decent conversation with him was when we were backstage at the Ryman in Nashville, for a guitar show at NAMM. I was working for Junior Brown at the time. When...

Re: Recording process beyond belief etc
First of all, I don't know if the original masters were analog or digital. It could have been digital open reel tape back then (Sony, Mitsubishi/Otari, 3M, etc. It could have also been on MDM (ADAT or DA-88). It could have been recorded onto a hard drive. It could have been on analog tape too. Now, ...

Yeah. The posing and twirling stuff was kind of old. The whole running wild and posing thing was juvenile IMO.

Re: God Fixation: Current Sounding
This is a tuffy. The band needed to morph to gain an audience and the audience they brought to the dance was not large enough to feed them anymore. So, the old guys say it's not authentic while authentic wasn't selling. I get it. The band was damned if they do and damned if they didn't. I like two s...
