I'm looking at all the things this guy is ranting about, and the only black mark he can find against Petra is the fact that they and Kiss both covered the same song. I'd say that speaks pretty highly of Petra if that's the only ammo he's got. He also neglected to mention that the only part of the ly...

Take Good Care of the Poor Boy

The members of Petra I dont think have to worry about where they're next meal comes from. They all have nice houses and nice cars. This is a very nave statement. Members of many bands who we might think would have lots of money have to get side jobs when they're not touring. I can think of many ...

Can of Worms

If you want to us CITS, would you also you CJU for Come and Join Us? Also, in the interest of consistency, if you're dropping 'and' you should also be dropping 'the', 'of', 'to', etc. So Back to the Street becomes BS. And we can't very well have that now, can we? 'And' is just as much part of the al...

BGVs

Actually, I thought that the BGVs on J&H were more reminiscent of the Elefante era than the ones on Revival. There was the return of the "aaahhAHHahhh" type BGV. Also, they had different voices, instead of the 'layers and layers of John' that we got on Revival. I prefer the richer texture of differe...

Is this for real?

Ok, my first reaction when I read this was "I thought April Fool's Day was a month ago." Since today's Petra will be playing at this show, I went and checked the tour dates on petraband.com and found that it wasn't listed. But then I went to jws.com and the concert IS listed there. No mention of any...

Trent

Well, the four newer GXV albums are not exactly my style. But the older ones are great. I don't listen to Media Alert very much. I didn't bother with Trent's album because he was only in Petra for, what, a few months? I wasn't even going to get Pete's album, but I found it in a 'Bargain Bin'....

Spinoffs

I've also got all 8 GXV solo albums, John's solos, John Lawry's Media Alert, Pete Orta's Born Again, and some Rob Frazier albums. I never picked up the Kevin Brandow stuff though. I've got some other project Petra's appeared on too, like the Keith Green tribute album and Carman's Addicted to Jesus. ...

Petra III

Gary Cherone is a Christian too. Although, as Van Halen's third lead singer he pretty much killed the band (although now they're back with Sammy Hagar and planning to tour for the first time in like 5 years). We wouldn't want him killing Petra as their third major lead singer.

Just For Fun - Lead Singer Options

Following up on my promise from the "Big Announcement" thread, here is a discussion question for everybody: If John Schlitt were to leave Petra, who would be a good choice to take over as lead singer? Now I don't want to start a debate as to whether or not Petra should continue without John. This is...

Having Some Fun

Tonight I was thinking of ways to have some fun following up to that original post on April Fools Day. I could have written something like: "After reading that I phoned up my friend at H2O and found out that it's true! The band is going to honour their current touring committments and then call it a...

One Small Change to the List

As far as that top 5 list goes, I'd make one change. Replace Third Day with Delirious. You could even keep the exact same write-up - just remove the "3". Maybe they meant to say Delirious, because that write-up fits them perfectly. A lot more than it fits Third Day. Maybe it's just a Canada t...

Here are some of my neglected favourites. I've left out my favs from the 86-96 era because they are not neglected. You are a Pethead if...

You have this constant nagging feeling as you think about your Petra collection not being truly complete until Star Song releases a full version of Washes Whiter Than on CD.

Excerpt from jesusfreakhideout.com

I was just on jesusfreakhideout.com and saw an article about Night of Joy. It closed off with this: "Joining Rebecca St. James and Michael W. Smith will be fellow artists Jars of Clay, Kirk Franklin, Point Of Grace, Yolanda Adams, Nicole C. Mullen, Rachael Lampa, Freddie Colloca, Salvador, ZOEgirl, ...

Artists not owning their own CDs

John not owning the On Fire Video Event isn't as surprising as Jamie Rowe's CD collection. He's said on his message board that he only actually owns a couple of Guardian CDs. Sometimes people will post asking him about rare Guardian CDs and he'll respond with something like "Yet another CD I don't o...
