Jonathan wrote:The track's actual title is "Medley (Only by Grace, To Him Who Sits On The Throne, You Are Holy)." "You Are Holy" starts about 2:48 into the song.

I just shortened the name of the song from "You Are Holy" to "Holy" in my post to avoid being wordy.
Yes, I got that. :D (But I reckon you were answering johntheumfreak). And good job on keeping it short.

You guys are all crazy! I love it!

I think our library has some really OLD Petra stuff still on tape. But I have no means of playing them, they're all probably stuck together by now (tropical weather here), and all the sound has probably fallen off too. It's a good thing Petra is one of the most prolific bands as far as compilations go. So, I'll probably find a dusty CD or two with PP2 songs, etc.

How am I doing in terms of rambling? Nowhere near Jonathan who, apparently, is the master in these here parts. :)

My favorite Petra song is "Somebody's Gonna Praise His Name" from ON FIRE!

Great song from beginning to end...the keyboard-laden ballad-like intro, then it pauses for a nanosecond, then Louie's drums and Bob's guitar kicks it into overdrive. John's vocals are filled with Holy Spirit power.

Plus, the lyrics are some of the most Christ-centered I have ever heard from a Christian rock band. Too many "Christian" bands are afraid to mention Jesus' name in their songs. Petra is the real deal.

The 3 songs that open ON FIRE's side 2 are some of the best songs Petra ever committed to tape...

1) "Counsel of the Holy"
2) "Somebody's Gonna Praise His Name"
3) "Open Book"

I like other songs as much as these, but I guess four songs that really stick out to me are

All Fired Up
I Love the Lord
I Am On the Rock
Midnight Oil

The ballads that I like the most are Open Book and Prayer.

Its almost an impossible question to answer...I'll only go with 'Judas Kiss' because that was the first song I ever heard by Petra.

I don't think On Fire! had computer drums like Beat the System. I bet Louie actually played the drums, but they were sound-mixed to sound super cool?

I also love that two-measure drum fill!

bass - snare - bass - bass - snare - snare - bass - (rest) - bass - snare - bass - snare - bass - snare - snaresnaresnaresnare - Da da da somebody's gonna praise . . .
