Re: Top/bottom 5 Petra Album covers
Cool! I've never seen those. Does the "Petra" LP actually start with "Walkin in the light"?, because my CD starts with "Wake up", even though it says it starts with "Walkin in the light".

Re: Top/bottom 5 Petra Album covers
There are two different track lists around. The LP track list that starts with Walkin' In The Light was used for the CD release as well. And the cassette release starts with Wake Up. I didn't realize that there were CDs out there with the cassette tracklist. More details can be found here.Boray wrote:Cool! I've never seen those. Come And Join Us has also two different track lists, one for LP/cassette and one for 8-track/CD.

This is never good. Someone starts a thread like this and everyone has to let everyone know they know every Petra release by heart in order to answer the question.

That's fascinating. The CD I have starts with "Wake Up." Apparently, I need to re-order my iTunes to conform to the way the record was originally intended for consumption. It makes a whole lot more sense for "Parting Thought" to actually be the last song on the album. Why was the tracklist changed for cassette? Different running times allowed before the break between Side A and Side B?p-freak wrote:There are two different track lists around. Looking at your site, this is the original tracklist for CAJU:
Side 1
01 God Gave Rock And Roll To You 5:37
02 Holy Ghost Power 2:27
03 Woman Don't You Know 3:41
04 Sally 4:26
05 Come And Join Us 4:39
Side 2
01 Where Can I Go 3:52
02 Without You 4:27
03 Ask Him In 3:31
04 God Gave Rock And Roll To You (Reprise) 2:50
This also makes a great deal more sense; "Ask Him In" is way too slow to be the second song on an album, like it is on the CD.

Then your CD of s/t is the Word/Epic release? I just confirmed with Boray that his CD is the Word/Epic release. I have the Word release. Both releases have the same song order written on the artwork, but Boray's Word/Epic release actually has the order starting with Wake Up.CatNamedManny wrote:That's fascinating. I don't quite know how they got it all mixed up, but I think it has something to do with the 8-track song order. They had to re-arrange the songs because there's apparently only a limited amount of time available for every program. And then when they prepared cassette and CD releases some of them got mixed up a bit. All I can think of is that those two song orders (original LP and rearranged 8-track) were somehow put together with the master tapes and that they then didn't know which was original or not and so on occasion ended up choosing the wrong order. But that's just an untested theory. I don't know the song order for the s/t 8-track, but if that would start with Wake Up it would back up my theory a little bit.

Top 5:
More Power To Ya
On Fire
This Means War
Not Of This World
Never Say Die
Bottom 5:
Pretty much any cover after CD become the dominant format. Good album cover art pretty much died that day.

Re: Top/bottom 5 Petra Album covers
It is the Word/Epic version. Can't say I've looked at the artwork all that much since I got the band to autograph it on the Farewell tour. It's at home; I'm at work, but if I remember, I'll check it out and see what the song order looks like.p-freak wrote:Then your CD of s/t is the Word/Epic release? Being there is a space between David Lichens and John, John's look is more like "Ok Bob, saving you a space, somehow just show up."I remember someone here make fun of No Doubt album:
Louie distracted and uninterested in the photoshoot
Jim Cooper too cool to be there
Ronnie sad in the corner because his dog died
David Lichens upset about his bad hair
And John the only one trying to have a good photoshoot.

Yes, I think it goes better with his black hair replacement. Might as well color it all or get a grey hair replacement. I also gave Mark Kelly his spikes back and removed John Lawry's grey stubble.
