Probably digital download, but it depends on the price...

Any 16 bit mp3s should theoretically sound worse than CD. I don't think many people can tell any difference with mp3s of 192kbps or above though.

I've never come across a 24 bit mp3. Mp3s is kind of a calculation of how a sound should sound so maybe it more has to do with the encoding and decoding?

Audacity exports to mp3 files 48K/24bit/320kbps

CD's are better though.

In answer to CatNamedManny, I contacted Michael Nachtigal at classicpetra.com, and he said the following: "We are planning to have the new CD’s also available at TBN. The band will do autographs after the show." So there ya go.

If mp3 is capable of 24 bit, it should mean that two of my mp3 albums are actually 24 bit  - They were exported directly from Reaper which uses something like a 64 bit mixer and Lame encoder... "Boray plays in the sun" and "Boray plays some guitar" here: http://listen.to/boray

As brent said before, mp3 pulls information out of the stream regardless of the size and bit rate. mp3 just can't compare to the audio of a CD no matter what you do.

If they have CDs available at TBN, then I'll probably buy the CD. The TBN show is on Nov. 20th, right? That's only 4 days after the digital release.

Yep. I'll buy the CD there, then. Thanks, Drake!

Although Audacity is free, if you're using that for a Studio Program. Let me make a suggestion to save some money up to buy a better program. 8)

wwwwhat??? Why go to mp3 and then back to uncompressed? That seems rather stupid. Especially if you really can notice any audio degradation in 320kbps mp3s (which most people can't)... Don't you know that you can make an audio CD copy of a CD?

Unfortunately I will never be able to enjoy the high quality sound of the original cd because I have this thing about buying a Petra cd and instantly ripping off to mp3 and burning an audio cd to listen to so I don't ruin the original. And I buy two of each of their cd's. I know I have a problem.
I agree with Boray. There are better ways of doing this instead of dropping the quality down in mp3. Do a direct CD copy, there is software out there that will help you do this. Nero is one. Good Lord, Man!

What the heck kind of distribution are they getting with Sony?
There is no info on hardly any online stores and Amazon has nothing on it, no pre-release ordering or anything. Some info should be on the stores by now, if we're only days away from release.

I don't get this either. Playing a CD doesn't do anything to it. Scratching it might. But playing it? No way. It is pressed. Now, if they were selling burned CD-Rs then I would agree. The die is not permanent.

Burn a 1:1 copy of the CD and put the CD on the shelf if you are that worried about it. I wonder if the issue is hard disc or RAM space.

Too be honest with you I don't see any evidence of them being with Sony. I know they have actually created their own label to make this album.

My studio runs with Cubase 5. A friend who had a studio in Nashville is selling his ProTools stuff, if I can raise the funds I might switch over to that.
