Monkees did rock!

Post by ctwomn » Wed Apr 13, 2005 1:36 pm

Hey...I love the Monkees too! I remember when I was preteen they would come on Nick at Night about 8:30 every night...never missed a show. I am embarrased to say Mickey was my fav!

Head East Get Yourself Up

Post by GLF78 » Wed Apr 13, 2005 10:58 pm

I hate to break from the wholesome Monkees discussion, but back to HE and Get Yourself Up.
I could never really tell from the album cover, but someone once told me it was a truck full of Whacky Weed. Made sense - Get Yourself Up. Maybe Brother Tom can confirm.

You guys reminisce about the Monkees on Nick at Night. I'm old enough to remember watching it on Saturday mornings when it first came out.
I still like "Last Train to Clarksville".

You and me both, GLF!

And to add yet another chuckle to this thread - just a month ago I bought a Monkeys Greatest Hits CD!

Back to HE - I was kinda thinking the same thing.... a pile of weed on the truck. But the stuff doesn't grow THAT big. It's a plant, not a tree.

So.... back to you, Tom or Drew - fill us in on the mystery cover.

Well, you're BOTH wrong! :P

The Monkees originally aired on Monday nights, and yes, I am old enough to remember this as well. I couldn't rememeber what night, so I googled it. When it was rebroadcast on Saturdays, it was Saturday afternoons. Here is the site in case anyone is really bored or interested:

I guess their memories ain't what they used to be.

Remember when the Thundercats turned into cars and swam under the sea and always got tangled up with Skeletor?

I remember stuff better from the late 70's(when I was in diapers) than I do the 80's...go figure :? Guess that proves that the 70's were cooler! LOL!

I thought there is no way it could be because we only play 3 Headeast songs here "Never been a Reason" "Fly by Night Lady" and another song i can't remember. All I heard of this puzzlin little ditty went... "Out of my head cant take it"...du duudit doo...and i was like that's kinda cute! Ayways..I had to call MJ cause i was laughing so hard! He acted like he did not believe me and so we when we got off the phone he must have looked up and ordred it for my b-day.
Nope! Had it ordered for weeks before that. I was playing dumb! If you don't believe me, I can show you the receipt! :)

(I mean, I KNOW you believe that I was dumb, but I mean if you don't believe that I ordered it ahead of time...)
