They will be in the studio recording the second CD at this point. Maybe more dates will show up once that one is released in the Spring. The more they re-record and practice playing live, the better for a truly awesome road show imo.
Where are you hearing they will be recording the next album? I don't go to the Classic Petra blog and I haven't seen anywhere else that this is the case.

From their Manager. I am already saving my pennies to buy that one, and hopefully a DVD between here and there (although I have not heard anything about when that might come out.). =)

I talked to Mark Kelly after the show and he said the plan was to do another album of "old" songs with a couple of new ones in the same vein as "Back to the Rock." I suggested they call it "Back to the Rock...Again!," though he only half-laughed

I think it would be too soon to do this. They need to hit a tour first.
From my experience with The Archers and some of the others from the 70s, they are having trouble getting deals or getting back on the radio, but the people they get involved with end up selling them a story and then they drop the ball and also they go into this thing with we're "So and So and we shouldn't have to get our hands dirty again to get promotion." But the fact is, the music industry today is a whole new world and sometimes we gotta get back to hard work to make it again. In this industry, You don't make a come back unless you've dropped out somewhere.
I'm not saying that this is what is going on with Petra, I mean we all know how hard they have worked. However, maybe they are not making the right connections. They are Hall of Famers and anyone with a good story would love to grab their buisness but you do have to beware of people who would do anything for a buck and don't really care about their artists. I'm not saying this is the case with their manager, But at the same time, something is wrong somewhere. Since the announcement there are only two things that have gone according to plan, 1. The CD 2. The DVD Taping. Everything else has changed according their goal, we haven't seen the Sony Distribution Deal, We haven't seen the Tour Dates announced yet, although we have seen a couple of events announced. But now, the first CD hasn't even hit the stores yet and they are going to start work on the next one???
