Question: Does it offend you that I didn't know who that was or why the harsh words? Is it my duty to learn about american producers or whatever nationality he is? Do you for example know who is behind the Abba sound? If you don't know, should I then feel offended that you don't know about Swedish producers?
Is it offensive? No. Is it your duty to know who Mutt is? No. Is Mutt American? No. Are all of the bands mentioned well known outside of their country of origin (Australia, US, UK, Canada)? Yes. Must all Petra zone members know who Mutt is? No, but you see, this site is fairly inside baseball (general slang for talk that is of little or no interest to outsiders or non-fanatics. ) when it comes to the music scene so it stands to reason that when a producer like Mutt Lange is mentioned that folks will know who he is. If they don't, then a little reminder of what Mutt has done usually gets a" oh that guy " type response. I guess you could have never heard of a single group Mutt produced and still like Petra, but it seems improbable.
Just to fill you in, it is believed that the Elefante bros. had a similar style to Mutt and his work with Def Leppard. On Fire, BB, and UP really seem to have the Mutt touch.

Re: Petra's Dream Team Sound
This thread is about who is responsible for Dream Team sound. The number one answer so far has been a couple of producers. If you don't keep up with the liner notes then why even post on the thread? No reason to get upset. There haven't been any harsh words.Shell wrote:Folks, all he did was ask a simple question...Not everyone pays attention to who produces albums. Lighten up a little bit. There's too much tendency to judge and read too much into stuff around here.

Believe it or not, I'm not upset. It can be hard when you can't see or hear each other. I'm just saying I saw nothing wrong with asking a question...Isn't that the way you learn?
It's possible I read more into it than what was meant also; what I said about that applies to me as much as anyone else.

Re: Petra's Dream Team Sound
Ok, I didn't expect an answer at all to my post "Why would I know of a foreign producer of music groups I'm not even into? I don't even know the producers of many artists I like... so...". Maybe you perceived that as something I didn't mean because you answered the wrong question, why I would WANT to know. That is something completely different. Popular music history is not something I actively try to learn about. As most people, I learn about things like that by watching (Swedish) TV and, like most people, I don't think it's very important. Seems you do. So to answer my own question: Because he probably isn't very well known around here.

Hmm.... That's not a correct answer to the question either, but I guess you will get my point anyway.Boray wrote:So to answer my own question: Because he probably isn't very well known around here.
