Re: "The Greater Cause" - John's New CD
Yes, Jay did a great job and said he would do more of the same (he and John have become good friends). I did email out the posters to churches and past promoters, yes.
Brent - what band, and what age? If they're on MTV, I can almost guarantee they're surely not overtly Christian like John - and surely much younger. I know familiarity breeds recognition & pledges... so hard to do without a budget for airplay and such.
John making a buck off of Classic P..... hehehe.... that's a good one! Seriously, Jan - the promoter sets the ticket price, not Petra (generally).
LivingRock -- can you get me the website or contact person - more info?
BTW, because people asked - we added a new pledge tier, which is basically a physical CD pre-buy: $15 NEW PLEDGE TIER gets you the pre-release CD. Not signed, just the CD.

Yes the promoter sets the ticket price but the band/booking agent sets the cost of the show and could build that in. That was tongue in cheek by the way. Classic Petra is an expensive show for some promoters, so it would likely never happen in a million years.
The band is comprised of believers. They do have Christian lyrics. They are not marketed as a Christian band. They are on the radio now. They do appeal to young girls. John is not the same artist and does not appeal to the same demographic. That is not the point. The point is, people are making 20k records and they sound good. That was the sole point. Sue, Email me and I will spill the beans. I don't think they want budgets public knowledge.
TV (shows, advertising, sports, etc), movies, radio, major network appearances, concerts, etc are making artists money. Not from music alone. The music must be packaged with something else, and positioned some other place than a website or store where only a small fraction of the buying public walk in. A song that deals with "the race" of life could be used at a NASCAR race....things like that. There has to be something to get John's voice in front of people that know classic rock in a secular venue. "That's the Never Been Any Reason guy!" Head East pretty much sucks now. Even if John came out with a Head East EP, that would be something cool that some classic people might buy and it might be included on compilations. I know these are not the answer. I am just saying that someone needs to think outside the box because everyone else is working some other angle than just presenting music. Heck. Some of the biggest sellers cannot even sing, but they put on a show and have a gimmick.

We suddenly seem to be over $25,000. It looks like someone put in $2,500. Way to go! Four more of those guys!

Do the higher than $78 rewards also include the Keep Your Light On DVD?

Last night the total was up to like $26,200 and now it's back down to $25,722. How did that happen?

I guess someone undid their pledge again? =(
It's up to $25,790 but that's still only 73% with only 19 days left to go.

Re: "The Greater Cause" - John's New CD
It will happen if everyone helps! At the very least a $15 pledge is a pre-buy... that's how I see it. I know some people are probably waiting to see if the project is funded, and then will buy the CD once it's out.
But honestly - if this isn't funded, there may not BE a CD at all.
The decrease in the dollar amount happened because one person deleted their pledge (you can always increase... or decrease your pledge amount). The other person made a mistake - he intended to increase, and instead decreased it. But that one is back now!
We're up to $26,380, with 19 days remaining.... still a ways to go! But within reach.... just need one person who wants a custom-made furniture piece, or two people who want a concert!
HOWEVER, if someone is in a higher category and wants the DVD package -- just add in the extra $78 to your existing pledge, then email me telling me you did that. I am manually keeping track of those who want that $78 reward on top of their existing reward.

No, because we could not add in another reward once people pledged to it.Do the higher than $78 rewards also include the Keep Your Light On DVD?

Maybe we need to have a telethon fund drive to get the last $6,000.

If all supporters of John Schlitt was thinking like this, there would be no record at all...I haven't donated yet and I probably won't until it gets down to the wire. I want to see how much he will still need toward the end. I can't afford to make a giant donation by any means, but how much he needs at the end may very influence how much I will donate.

Re: "The Greater Cause" - John's New CD
It just kills me how some people around here like to dig up my old posts to try and use against me. I have a feeling if I were in the business of doing that I'd get nailed to the cross. I'm not taking a wait and see attitude on the album, rather I wanted to see what's needed toward the end and then pray about what I should do. I'm sorry if that seems like such a terrible thing.

Preacherman777 wrote that awhile back so why is it being brought up now, I haven't donated anything since I can't afford to, am I gonna be judged for that?
