Okay, you're obviously not getting what I'm trying to say here Rex--I'm not disputing Petra could use some exposure or saying free press is in and of itself a bad thing or that all the information from the press is wrong. It's the sensationalism I have trouble with, and if you think there's no sensationalism in the media, well then you don't understand how journalism works either. Free press can be abused like any other right. I'm not going to waste my time arguing about this; this will be my last post on this topic.

To keep it in context, the press that was originally referred to was CCM magazine which quoted Third Day.

I just think it was unprofessional for Third Day to make those comments and really unfounded because at the time Petra was 10 yrs past its time.
I've been researching reviews on DT by media and fans alike and as fans go it looks like its either loved or hated, but its about 50/50. The media seems to be more middle of the road, with some even saying the production value rivals that of some big secular artists of the era. One even said its the best Petra had ever done up to that point.
A fans point of view is not considered in the equation to win a Grammy.

I know there have been lots of quotes through the years in regards to Louie's drumming being the best in the Christian music scene, Peter Furler or some guy from Sonic Flood said something along those lines

Third Day Praises Petra
Today at the Panama City Beach Show, Mac Powell of Third Day stopped half way through their set to say, and I paraphrase and quote:
"Today we were watching Petra perform and they were great. It has been an honor to share the stage today with Petra. Isn't it wonderful they are here today with us? They paved the way for us to be able to do what we do today. I remember when we started we heard Petra was celebrating their 20 years as a band, and I prayed, please God let us last 20 years as a band, and today we celebrate 20 years as a band".
All the guys from Third Day were on the left hand side sound man's booth watching the complete Petra performance, singing along at times, and Mac Powell was taking pictures. You will see this when I post my video of the show.
So there you have it, it's never late to give credit where credit is due.

My problem with DT wasn't the "production", which was stellar. It was that it was not a rock album, by any stretch of the imagination, and should not have been nominated, let alone have won, a Grammy for a rock category.executioner wrote:CatNamedManny wrote:d in production quality which is a huge factor in getting a Grammy nod.
