30 + Date Tour for Classic Petra
30 + Date Tour for Classic Petra
It seems like this year was a real full 30 + dates tour for Classic Petra. Go to classicpetra.com and see that with the soon to be announced Orlando Florida date they have more than 30 dates this year. Not bad for a bunch of old folks, dont you think? It makes more sense to me now to leave the new record for next year since it's been such a busy year compared to 2011's 25 or so dates.
I am glad Classic Petra is picking up some steam!!!

Yes, it's a big improvement over last year. For whatever reason the tour really got off the ground this year and it's even been beneficial to Farewell Petra, giving them a few dates. I don't think there can be any question that this has been a good deal for all Petra fans. Now, if we can finally get that new album sometime in 2013, I'll be so happy I just may go dance jig out front of my house.

Re: 30 + Date Tour for Classic Petra
Big improvement from last year, but I think the only way they will get any press going is to have an actual tour and not these 3-4 dates a month. I think I would try and get hooked up with another band and get a 30 date tour going in Feb-April of next year. I believe they have some opportunities for something like this to happen; I know of at least one band that was really interested in having them play a 45 minute set on a 40 date tour back in early 2011; which would have been huge for CP, something like that could finance a new album with an outside producer(which is so needed).

Re: 30 + Date Tour for Classic Petra
Effectively it has been a 39 date tour this year for CP + the 30 plus dates last year, this will make the "Back To The Rock Tour 2011/2013" a 70 plus date tour for Classic Petra. Not bad for all the doubters. I rarely see any band that has all the tour dates one day after the other with no breaks in between to make it a "real tour" like some have suggested here. This has been a success, and of course next year they can sit down to write and record the New Album.

Re: 30 + Date Tour for Classic Petra
Most bands/artists that have any legs to them will do a what promoters call "a straight tour" which would be 30-40 dates in 3 months time, and then take time off from the road to do side gigs, studio time etc. etc. etc. Touring like CP has the last 2 years is the least desirable way to tour for a band/manager, and also in the long run not only costs more but brings in less finance wise. This is why when this all started in 2010 the former management tried everything to get together a 40 date tour that fall, but there was little in any promoters wanting to back it. I am somewhat concerned that the record label that CP has signed on with hasn't done any type of promotions with the band which usually starts to happen when a contract is signed. I know we are probably looking at another year before we actually have a record in our hands but this is where a Label usually starts putting some press out there. I can't even remember what the Label's name is which is not good at all; their names need to be out there and being talked about.
I hate to bring up and compare Petra/John Schlitt/Classic Petra because some really get offended but look at what John & "Farewell" Petra has done with facebook. John & his manager is almost on facebook daily with news, tour info, showing John is on his way to some concert etc. etc. etc. and also the same thing happened with "Farewell" Petra went to Brazil last month; they were all over facebook with daily info on what was going on. This is one area where Classic Petra has failed to use free advertising to their advantage. I see very little if any press on fb or twitter about CP, and too be honest this is where management continues to drop the ball especially because they have very little financial backing and budget; these things are TOTALLY FREE use them to your advantage.

Well exe, then you have been out from Facebook for a while cause Dean has been posting every single step CP has done almost daily on their Facebook page and every post has great feedback for many countries around the world and the US. Also their page is already past 11,000 likes and more are added everyday, I visit every day and can attest to that. If you compare how long it took the Petra FB page to get their number of likes, and how many people respond to posts by management you will see that CP is doing quite well and using the Free media very well. On the other hand I give you that I would like to see more done by ANR records for them.

I'm on fb almost everyday and I liked CP back earlier in the year, and I'm not seeing what are your seeing. I see an update about once per week if that; I'm really new to fb(6 months) Is my settings blocking from getting all the info from them that you are getting? Can anyone else confirm what fcollazo is saying because I'm not seeing all this info CP is putting out.

Re: 30 + Date Tour for Classic Petra
There are posts more often than once a week, but yeah, they mostly have to do with song lyrics or concert announcements and ticket info, maybe an occasional video from a concert. It's been a long time since there has been any real news. I would have to agree that John's internet promotion has been superior to Classic Petra's.

I was using once a week in general terms; You are right there seems to be no real meat on there. What happened to the band members posting there? I recall someone saying that a couple band members were going to start posting some, but I really haven't seen anything interesting. I want to see items about concerts coming up, and also the after show just showing how it went and maybe photos, videos, set lists, & overall on how the show went. They have a list of shows coming up starting on Oct 20th, but not really much has been said about those. PROMOTION! PROMOTION! PROMOTION! Facebook is free publicity use it to your advantage.
BTW the CP website is in need of an major update; the latest news is promoting the concert in early August. The latest news should be upcoming shows, maybe a little message from a band member; anything that is about tomorrow and the future and not what happened 2 months ago.
