Well for one thing it shows creative dependence - That's What.

If what you are implying in John relying on Petra and their few song writer's they have in the fold to go out and do a song solo wise whats the big deal? John has every right as long as he has gotten the legal permission(which he has) to do so. Greg is being credited as the author and might receive royalities from it, that just depends on how Petra is set up.

No not many would, because of the style difference.

TIME OUT!

John did not choose to go and record the song; he did not search Petra's catalog and look for songs to sing.

Guiseppi Davi and his producers approached John - and ASKED JOHN to sing the duet with him. Davi did not ask Greg, he asked John. That was DAVI's choice. John only said "OK, I'll do it."

I'm glad for her sake that she hasn't been hanging around Danny Devito!

I don't think anyone has gotten how the recording happened incorrectly. Obviously John was solicited. Obviously royalties were paid. Obviously John does not own the Petra music, so Bob and probably Greg get points upfront and/or a guarantee on the the sales. The whole Greg thing was tongue in cheek as far as I can tell.

There isn't much of a christian music scene in Italy. My PDC buddies, Alex Argento and Marco Sfogli, are two of the most sought out prog rock and metal session players and live in Italy. Most of their work comes to them. I talk to them often, well Alex more than Marco, and we discuss what is happening there. If Petra could get in there, they would mop up. They would have to play there. That part of the world is very dark and desperate at the moment. There is little hope in the minds of the people. Petra should get there and share it. The only thing that will not sell is USA patriotism. That cannot be wrapped around the cross.

Agree on the Italy thing; I think John & Petra should get in there quickly and take advantage of the market there, its dying to hear that there is hope in this darken world. I can't recall of ever hearing of CCM going into Italy which is kinda weird because Italy is very open with travel and all. I've notice John is leaving "Faith & Freedom" & "The Cross Remains" off the international setlists.

Artists likely have less control over the recording process than one might think. As with many things, it probably has a lot to do with being in the right place at the right time...And bringing in money for the industry. That's the way things are in general in the business world. :P

Well he did "The Cross remains" in Canada, but you know, I really don't see anything that American about the song... Yes it could refer to 9/11, or something else entirely. For me, the song came out when I was going through some difficult issues with some friends, so the words, "Though the hardest heart of men try to lead us to an end/ We may fall, still our hope remains." and "Remember, it's not what they say/ just watch what they do" and "There'll be no laughing at our scars, they're now a part of who we are" really spoke to me. I never even realized it was supposed to be a patriotic song until I saw you guys discussing it on here!

"Pethead" is not a title. It's a way of life.

See there. A good song is plug n' play in the lives of multiple people. Good compliment to John, Dan, whoever.
