John Schlitt Official Remix Contest
Check it out here:
http://www.acidplanet.com/contests/schlitt
If nothing else, it was fun to throw the downloaded material into Reaper and listen to the individual tracks. The tracks are not dry, there was an echo on the vocals for example and the guitar track contains several guitars. So I would call them submixes or something. I'm not sure yet if I will make a remix of my own. Maybe just for fun. I think it was fun to listen anyway, and to get a free remixable song.

Re: John Schlitt Official Remix Contest
I just made a quick remix using the drums from "Hit you where you live". Do you want to hear it?

I put a bit more work into it and here it is:
http://boray.wontek.net/petra/JohnSchlitt-remixed.mp3 (Edit: Try the later version below instead)
I might actually prefer this over the original.
I hope nobody mind me posting it. I guess they wouldn't arrange a mixing contest if they did.

Re: John Schlitt Official Remix Contest
I like it especially the guitar work nice and raw. The one complaint I would have would be the drums they are somewhat simple and sound very wet; A dry earthy snare sound would fit in great with this mix.

Re: John Schlitt Official Remix Contest
The whole point with the drums was to use characteristic real Petra drums. But maybe you are right that something else would be more right in this mix. Anyway, here is a new version with some more changes, for example, I've now used drums from "Somebody's gonna praise His name" to create some fills:

Re: John Schlitt Official Remix Contest
Good for you! that is really cool hearing ON FIRE drums in there! sounds really natural.
Here's a forum where you can read a bit about what others are saying: http://www.acidplanet.com/forum/?T=4585
Naturally they're having fun with John's last name....
