Legal Implications?
Legal Implications?
So when they finally say the farwells, what are the legal implications to owning the name PETRA? Is it up for grabs? Why i ask? There is/was a band in Australia a few (well decades) ago that were pretty big in their day. They disbanded. Now, some american group took on the name. The original band members wanted to regroup only to find out that they cannot regroup under the name they let go of. They went to court and lost! I wonder if there will be anything done? Anyone know?

Bob holds the rights to the Petra name and he will never be willing to give it up. I know a few years ago Petra (the model) tried to copy right her name and just go by Petra as her only name(Madonna,Cher) well anyways she was not given the rights because somebody else holds the rights, this did not go to court or anything, it would have been stupid of her to take legal action to get this right

FORGIVE! FORGET! & LET GO!
The laws in Australia may be different than in the USA. Here in the USA, you have to register your name/trademark, and have all incarnations of it, it's artwork, fonts, etc copyright protected.
You can visit the USA gov's wbesite and view the trademarks and copyrights for your fav band, company, etc. You can see the minutia that people will file for.
