Bill F wrote:However, I always thought it would be more theology accurate to say,
"You'll pull down strongholds if you just believe HE can." That would preserve the paradox between our action and God actually being the one that accomplishes what we do.
But then Jesus also said Luke 10:19, "Behold I give unto you the power to tread on serpents, scorpions and all power of the enemy."

I hear ya, Bill F. It might have been harder to recognize what they were saying though.

ErioL, Bill's 'adjustment' does not contradict that verse in any way. Note with a different emphasis:

"Behold I give unto you the power to tread on serpents, scorpions and all power of the enemy."

It says just the thing Bill is.

I've thought a lot about this line from "Strong Convictions":

"Is it the tail or the dog that will wag?"

There's an interesting play on words there. It recalls the Dustin Hoffman film "Wag the Dog" -- which came much later than the song.

Man there is so many verses and songs to mention I will paraphase..

Just Reach Out. This song has impacted me greatly. I've also used it to minister to other Christians and non-Christians alike. The Whole song grabs at my heart strings. I love the part of the song where it says even you said you've walked 10,000 steps away Jesus is only one step back.

Sight Unseen. I love this song. Thinking. If I could see I would believe, then somebody said believe and you will see. I love it. Listen Up my friends because I have news for you the nails in his hands and feet were meant for you.

Fo All Your worth. You know he died for all your worth he loves you, you have the greatest value, he died for all your worth. When I first listened to this song it didnt hit me right away. However I have grown to really love this song and comprehend the significance of what the song is saying. I'm diagnoised with depression. Jesus really has spoken to me through this song. I mean knowing how so very important we are to God that he died for us and he did it so we could be with him. We are so valuable to him that he came and died for us because he knew we couldnt do it on our own and provided a way. Very intense. The creator of all died so I wouldnt have to and so I could be with him..Praise God..

All The words to Blinded Eyes.

The lverse in Life as We Know it.. Never perfect but perfectly forgiven..man yesss God your so awesome.

There is so many more but I just cant think of em right off the top of my head but if more come to me I will post..

Godbless to all

In Christ

Skycaptain, 'the tail wagging the dog' is an old relatively familiar saying, like many of Petra's lyrics. The movie used it independant from Petra.

The line from Sight Unseen is a known quote isn't it? Someone correct me.
**Okay I had to Google. Looks like Augustine.
Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.

Yea, I figured the tail wagging the dog line was based on an old cliche. I don't completely have a grasp on it, but I have an idea about what the context is in the song. Since the cliche isn't used very often, it's use in a rock song from the 90's is kind of odd. Yea, Bob likes to use old sayings a lot.

"No need to pat me on the back or stop the shake my hand
I just want to hear my Father say "Well done, well done" "

From Godpleaser. It's hard find only a line in that song!

No Doubt

Post by callbeyond » Thu Jun 30, 2005 10:48 am

I would have to say...

No doubt it'll be alright
With God it'll work together for good
No doubt in the end it will be understood
No doubt it'll all work out
With faith He can move any mountain for us
No doubt in the power of Jesus
And after all is done we find out
All we really need to have is no doubt

My theme song

I'd rather be a fool in the eyes of man than a fool in the eyes of God.
