This is what I have found out from talking to hundreds of major market and medium market radio Program Directors, and confirming with Mr. Schlitt himself. I have been told that it didn't matter how well J&H was selling, they were not playing Petra.

Some mom and pop stations still take requests. If they have a copy, you might have a shot. But they are not going to play it if it doesn't match their target market. In otherwords, if they are geared for the caual female listener between 25-35, forget it.

Again, if there were a way to make it happen, Bob would be able to get it done. The man has resources. The label has resources. Although I think that the label didn't do what it could, I am an outsider looking in, just as you guys are.

I'm really do not know much about reign radio; Is it an internet listener type like christianrock.net? I am really disheartened about they way CCM has treated Petra over the last few years. I've left the building and will not becoming back.

Oh yeah don't even get me started on CCM. The stories that I have been told, and the things I have heard...it would make you never want to to buy another CD as long as you live. Do you know that out of ALL the "christian" artists that are out there....that only about 3....ONLY 3 actually have made money off of there CD's. That is pitiful. It's all about the $$$. I wanted for a long time to be a big time "signed" artist, but after what I have seen....no thank you. And CCM ONLY pushes who they think will be there BIG $$$ maker. Petra was booted out I think after their Beyond Belief Album. That is my thinking.

Oh well, enough of my soapbox.

Where did you hear that? I guarantee you more than three have made money. CCM is part of a family of radio, publishing, etc companies. They will push whoever is in their sphere first. If your not in, you have to buy your way in.

I will guarantee that more than three have made money. As for not making money, that problem is not exclusive to CCM. You have to sell enough albums to earn enough royalties to pay back the money loaned to you by the record company so you could make an album. Not everyone, christian or secular is fortunate enough to sell enough albums to see a profit.

And, yes the record companies are about making $$$. That is called smart business and effective ministry. If the don't make money, they cease to exist. If they don't put out what the buying public is listening to, that is ineffective ministry. No matter how good Petra or anyone else is, and no matter how badly they want to do ministry, they are not going to spend a ton of money pushing a band or artist if they think they will come up short in the end.

I'm pretty sure I've heard J&H on Reign Radio, though I haven't listened in awhile. They will play older petra, along with other classic Christian rock and metal. They play wide variety of new and old, and they also have the classic rock lunch, where you would only hear older Petra. They play a lot of Elefante related stuff, so you're likely to catch a lot of older Petra on there.
