Hmm...I only hope it's not self-produced like Back to the Rock II was.

I never bothered with Back to the Rock II, so I don't know what its production values are like, but since I doubt anybody gave Bob and the gang a big pile of money to make an album, then it will very likely be self-produced, although I think Bob has a good ear for producing, so I'm not concerned.

Back to the Rock was produced by "John Larry and Petra." Back to the Rock II was produced by "John Lawry & CPR Band." The quality between the two isn't even close! Let's hope that Bob brings it!

This will almost certainly be the last Petra album, so here's hoping they go out on a high note.

I would love to begin the wild speculation on personnel, content and supporting tour.

Personnel? You mean the band itself? I'm assuming it's John, Bob, John Lawry, Greg Bailey, and Christian Bonero.

Content is very hard to predict. I don't think it's going to be a straight up rocker like Jekyll and Hyde. I'm expecting more along the lines of Wakeup Call or the Union of Sinners and Saints albums. Still rock but more adult contemporary.

I wouldn't expect a big tour. Just a continuation of what they're already doing.

In terms of personnel, I wonder if any special guests will show up. Greg X. Volz maybe? Kevin Brandow? Who knows!

CPR's cover of Greg's cover of Aerosmith's "Dream On" was a major let down. Greg should have simply stuck with his 1988 cover and left it at that. The Union of Sinners & Saints' cover of Petra's "Beyond Belief" was unnecessary & redundant, but I get it. It was an opportunity for John & Billy to cash in on a dependable track to sell their new album. Part of me, however, wouldn't be mad if John finally covered Petra's cover of Petra's cover of Argent's "God Gave Rock & Roll to You."

As far as praise albums, I guess at this point I shouldn't hold my breath for a follow up album to Vertical Expressions from II Guys from Petra. I wouldn't mind it if Petra followed their early '80s blueprint and recorded a solid rock album with 1 praise song not unlike "Praise Ye the Lord" or "Let Everything That Hath Breath," but perhaps that was what Bob was attempting to do on Jekyll & Hyde's penultimate track, "Till Everything I Do."

From what I've heard on the FB, it's all new material. The rest here is just speculation. I do think that John and Bob understand what their Core fans expect from this version of Petra that they've been touring with the last couple of years, so I'm not worried about what we're going to get. Since John S, Bob, and John L are fully involved in this, I'm hoping that some of the tracks are sonically like "Fake News" that the two Johns developed for "Go" in a few of the tracks. I postulated when that song was released that if a new Petra album ever happened, it might have some of that same feel to it and I hope that's correct. The rest I'm hoping are more like J&H with keys this time, aka similar to "Wake Up Call". Either way, I'm really excited and a new album is just gravy at this point!
