wow...
Its sad...
For Me Its not that God is leading them elsewhere....its more to me the fact that CCM seems to have absolutely nothing to do with them anymore. I don't remember ccmcom.com ever mentioning Petra's announcement of the disassembling of the group. They complained about Petra's music for so long...then when petra makes music that they can't complain about..then their too old!! Thats pretty sad!! But really thinking about it all....can we expect anything different? With The church allowing homosexuality in the church, justifying sin, seeming to want to tickle everyones ear....kind of funny that a songs petra wrote and sang about ...its more and more coming true. I Sort of lost interest in the credability of ccm after the michael english issue back in 1994 whe the GMA said they had no values that the artists have to live up to. I guess If metallica got a record label to distribute their recordings in the ccm genre they would be allowed to win a Dove. We really need to pray for the times we live in...I know the Bible says the world is only going to get worse...But I believe we christians don't need to help usher in the anti-christ!!

The mess with Michael English wasn't completely the fault of CCM. CCM's attitude towards sin and the public's tendency to be shocked that these folks aren't above that sort of thing may have been contributing factors, but a lot of it was his own sinful behavior along with a fair amount of stupidity. He should have known better. I do understand what you mean though.

Well, It Wasn't only michael english that played the tango, I don't know her name...but the "First call" lady played her part. Mr english wasn't only to blame. My apologies to mr. English for just using his name. My point wasn't that CCM Was at fault, it is that they don't hold any of their participants to any time of moral value. There for anybody whose anybody can win one of there award.

Well....this brings a lot about in my lil ole mind....I have to say I just saw them in Franklin and was just as touched by the ministry as I was the first time I saw them...their musical ability has always been top notch! They simply don't settle for the ole good enough for Gospel mentality that seemed to infect so many. They are very proffesional and Rock solid! They have been this way since 1972.
I really feel that the ccm and radio play definatley played a huge part in the retirement. They simply never have gotten the air play they so richly deserve. I am not sure why this has been the case, but it has..many if not most of the so called "Christian" radio stations play a very small handfull of musicians and a very cookie cutter style of music. If it doesnt fit their mold then it doesnt get air play. I know for a fact that it fits God's plan....just look at the fruit!
I really hate to see this incredible Ministry come to an end...but at the same time I know that these men will all continue to be used...whether its in thier own families, local Church or a new beginning with another band or solo career.
I pray for their peace, and multiple blessings upon each of their lives....past member and current members!

Bob
I would be all for Bob doing P&W, but I would hope that he would not write the kind of stuff that we usually sing in church. Bob and Petra pretty much set the standard of merging P&W with rock and roll and if he's gonna go that route, I really hope the rock and roll doesn't get left behind.
I know most folks seem to be mostly concerned with what John's going to do next and I'm interested in that as well, but I'm just as interested, if not more so in what Bob will do next.

While it's true that the CCM industry has become increasingly worldly, especially when you consider how much is owned by people outside the kingdom, we need to remember who is really to blame. The powers within CCM can do what they do because we buy it. It is Christians that ultimately determine how trivial and frilly we will allow the music and the message to be. We are accepting the same things we are tolerating from the pulpit, or should I say desiring from the pulpit.
We also have to remember that God is sovereign. He wants the guys to stay together and keep ministering in the current format, He will raise up people to meet their needs. I do not see anywhere in scripture that God is beholden to organizations like Word Records or Salem Communications. He is sovereign over them too and will accomplish all He sets out to accomplish. The fact that the guys don't feel it is the Lord's will to move on, regardless of what circumstances led them to believe this, is a good indications that God has other plans for them.

God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him. - John Piper
Bform...you are right on target...these Mighty Men are not just musicians....but Warriors in the Kings army....just as you and I are...It is my prayer for me that if God is finished with me here...and there is no more work for me to do on this earth, then take me home! If I cannot further His kingdom..then why be here....why not be with Him...I have to believe that where ever they are led....God will use them!

Words of a Wise Man!
Theres a time to take a reckless leap of faith
Theres a time to be cautious and to wait
And theres a way of learning from the past
That this time of trouble wont last
And sometimes we want to think we know
The ways He will choose to make us grow
But its never the way of our choosing
And we cant always see what Hes using
Theres a time to be cautious and to wait
And theres a way of learning from the past
That this time of trouble wont last
And sometimes we want to think we know
The ways He will choose to make us grow
But its never the way of our choosing
And we cant always see what Hes using
