Send in Petra Farewell Tour Photos to CCM!

Post by Michael » Thu Oct 20, 2005 7:19 am

Okay, shutterbugs... check this out from an email sent by CCM Magazine's Web editor:
Do you have any photos of Christian music artists hanging around on your computer? Please share! Maybe you snapped some great shots at a recent concert or you have a wonderful portrait of you with your favorite band. With the exception of paparazzi shots (no stalking please), we'd love to see it. E-mail your photos to [email protected]. Make sure you include plenty of information for the caption (who, what, when, where) as well as how you want your photo credit to read.
Existing photo galleries are at: http://ccmmagazine.com/photos/default.aspx
CCM has actually posted Inpop's press release: http://ccmmagazine.com/musicnews/1678.aspx

Down the corridor or life in between our death and birth
We may start to lose our way in the search to find our worth
Our value comes in the fact we live
Life is a gift only God can give

I've never been a fan of CCM because they only cater to whats hip and hop with the soccer moms and teens. It's almost like one of those fashion mags.

Yep...I have heard that if you don't fit the "look" they won't even sign you as an artist. I know a guy and his band...EXCELLENT guitar player, but some of them were a little on the heavy side, but man could they play...Forefront told them, well we'll sign you, but we can't print any pictures of what you look like. VERY SAD....now those guys are playing in bars and away from the Lord. CCM did that.

I think the weight issue is changing -- albeit slowly. Just look at Big Daddy Weave.

Oh, give me a break. To blame something so serious on CCM is ridiculous. Obviously this band had other issues besides the CCM industry if they're not living in the Lord anymore.

I went to their link you have there and it shows most of their shows are being done in churches albeit AOG but churches nevertheless.

Yea, they play mostly praise music. I caught part of their set at Spirit West Coast a couple years back. The song "Audience of One" is awesome!

I don't think CCM only caters to groups that are "attractive" or "fit" and "thin." There several groups or artists that are doing well and do not fit this image. Look at Big Daddy Weave. What about Bart Millard in Mercy Me?

To be honest...when I first start listening to Petra...I didn't think they were all that "attractive" looking, but I loved their music. And don't forget, Petra WAS a CCM darling for many years.

Add Seventh Day Slumber to the list. They have at least one big guy and they're not exactly boy band material either.
