No Doubt
I listened to No Doubt sample the other day I thought it was ok. It is certainly not the best but it was good. How many here were disappointed with it? I guess only a true Pethead would like it LOL

I hated No Doubt. In my mind it is their worst album. I feel that was the beginning of the downfall of the group. IMO that album did not truly represent what Petra could be.

The first six songs on No Doubt are some of the best songs Petra has ever put out! the album is much stronger than Wake up call. That album is great in itself but it baffles me because people put down No Doubt for not being rocky enough, but wake up call really only has 2 rocks songs (Midnight oil, Underneath the blood) and a southern style rocker (Good news). Everything else is pop or ballad.
Enter In: This song is just great. No loud guitar solos but it's a good song
Think twice: This is one of those times Petra expands it's musical borders and does it well. This song always reminded me of Hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me by U2 with the strings. Great song!
Heart of a hero: How could anyone not love this rocker? Great guitar tone as well. Clean yet crunchy at the the same time.
More than a thousand words: This song speaks to heart of God's love.
Do doubt: This single song means more to me than any other Petra song ever written. As I have gone through the trials of this last year, No doubt has given me encouragement to seek God.
Right place: Again, how could you not love this song. A classic for sure.
The album trails off a little after that but ends nicely with We hold out our hearts. This songs praises God from the heart.
As a rocker myself, I had a hard time at first with God fixation and double take. As a musician I have greatly appreciated these albums in a different light than say On fire. On fire was my fave for years followed by Beyond Belief and Unseen power. I love This means War and Back to the street got me hooked on Petra.
I would encourage you to go back and listen to no doubt from a song perspective and not how hard it rocks, even though it does rock nicely in places. The songs are very well written and I'm amazed to hear that people don't like the album. then again, this album has ministered to many as myself. Everybody likes something different though.
I also tend to think that the problem with No doubt is that people Phychologically dislike it due to Bob's departure at the time of this album.

One of my wifes all time favorite Petra songs is No Doubt. I like it to. The song For All Your Worth has a spacial place in my heart and is one of my favorite. God really spoke to me through that song. I Actually like all the songs off of No Doubt.Shell wrote:God Fixation is a very underrated CD, it really has some beautiful songs on it.
No Doubt is a song that means a lot to me too, and it's a good CD.
I think I will give God Fixation more of a chance. I do like the song Hello Again and Set For Life.

True. You can't lump No Doubt/God Fixation in with This Means War/On Fire/Beyond Belief. It's like loving Pink Floyd's Meddle, and then not being able to appreciate a departure album like A Momentary Lapse of Reason or Division Bell.

No Doubt is without a doubt (no pun intended) one of my all time favorite albums not to mention my favorite Petra album. It was an unbelievable album, Enter In, Think Twice, No Doubt, More Than A Thousand Words, Sincerely Yours, For All Your Worth, Heart Of A Hero, and We Hold Our Hearts Out To You all spoke to me. What a wonderful album it was.

It just cracks me up that people talk about the "downfall of Petra" starting with No Doubt because Bob was gone. The problem with that logic is that Bob was every bit as involved with No Doubt as he had been with every other Petra record to date. It wasn't until after it was finished that he decided not to tour. The only mistake I think that was made was not including Bob's photo on the album.

Re: i
I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion... so I will wholeheartedly disagree with the comment above. No Doubt was such a blessing to me in a very difficult time of my life, and it was a much welcomed return to the Petra sound I loved so much after the disappointing release of Wake Up Call (which I had to force myself to listen to until it finally grew on me).executioner wrote:I hated No Doubt. And as I write this post, I'm scratching my head wondering how in the world could anyone "hate" No Doubt.

Even now, No Doubt is still one of the first CDs I will pick up and throw in my player because I love the updated sound and balance and to me was Petra's last great CD before the decline in popularity.

Enosh, I agree with your post concerning No Doubt with regards to the first six songs. But why stop with the first six? The remaining songs are some of Petra's finest ballads and AC material.
Sincerely Yours
For All You're Worth
We Hold Our Hearts Out To You
That makes 9 strong songs out of 11 songs on the CD. "Two Are Better Than One" and "Think On These Things" are the only weak songs, but TOTT is one that grew on me with repeated listening.

No Doubt has some solid rock tunes on it. There are a couple of clunkers on it, but it's certainly not as bad as many people make it out to be. I can honestly say there is not a single Petra album that I don't like. Some I might like more than others, but I wouldn't ever say I hate any of them. And I think Double Take is the most underrated Petra album.

No Doubt
My favorite Petra cd hands down, although i will agree that after "Right Place" the disk goes alittle off course. but Bob shines on the cd. Bob did not tour David did. I had John sign the cd in 2002 he said thanks and i said it was my fav and hes said mine too. Since its release they have played at least one if not two cust frim this disk. Durring the Revival tour they played "Enter In", "Think Twice", & "More Than A Thousad Words". Farewell Tour, "Right Place" , parts of "Think Twice" & "No Doubt" I wish "Enter In" was played that is my all time favorit Petra song. Everyone has a diff idea of what is great but all i know is that their music will live on. My own Christian band WATER (john: 4-14) is currently playing "Enter In" & "Jeckyl and Hyde". Thank GOD for Petra
