BForm - we'll split Atlanta. You take the east, I'll take the west. :D I'm in Acworth.

I called the Lifeway in Kennesaw, GA and Alpharetta, GA and neither had anything for me, copies or info. Family Christian in Kennesaw was goose eggs too.

I have called several Best Buys in the area and all but one had it. I also called Circuit City in Kennesaw at Town Center and the guy I talked to said "yes" right away without having to check (which I took as a good sign).

Shara - any preference as to where we buy this as a Christmas present? Didn't know if a sale at a store like Best Buy or Media Play would mean more or less than one online or at a Christian bookstore.

Of course for me personally, mine came from musichristian today! (I left work to see if it came! I was useless at work today anyway in anticipation! ...and because I was on the phone with retailers.)

I'm just now on track 4 (Test of Time), and I have to give serious "props" on the production side of this thing. I have to be honest and admit that my expectations weren't very high, and they've been immediately blown away.

I have heard a LOT of live albums in my time both in music retail and radio, and most of them aren't worth the plastic they are burned on, but this one is already way up on my short list of all-time live album productions (miles ahead of CITAS, btw). I'm very proud to have been at this recording! (although I was about 2" out of several of the concert photos in the liner notes... dangit! More crowd shots in the DVD, yes? :D

Hastings here has one copy of it. They were going to get that one copy anyway, but I reserved it. I did this before I knew that there were going to sell it and give it away for sponsoring a child at the Irving concert Friday night. It was in the store yesterday, and put it in the reserve section for me this morning. I'm still going to buy it for one of the friends that went with me to the concert. He is a new Christian and new to Petra, but really enjoyed the concert and to the old Petra tapes I gave him before. I have every CD of theirs now, so don't really need those old casettes.

I haven't had a chance to check Wal Mart here yet. They had one copy of Revival and J&H when it they first came out.

There is a Christian bookstore here, but the last couple of years they've barely had any music at all. There is another bookstore in one of the churches here, and they have quite a bit of music. It's been a while since I've been in there. I think I'll have to stop by today to just see if they have it. This church is the same building where our Christian radio station is located. They play the cool and hip stuff, but I can't remember them ever playing Petra. Of course at night they do the satellite adult contemporary thing when nobody is there, and that plays Lord I Lift Your Name on High. I wonder if I called to request it if they'd play it or if even if they'd have any Petra.

I would be curious to know if the Christian bookstores back in El Paso where I used to buy all my Petra CDs (except the OOP ones that I found on ebay) have it.

I just talked to Mardel in Plano again and she did assure me that they do have it. She said she made a mistake and was looking at last week's releases. I knew something was funny because they have always been big supporters of Petra. I will be picking up my third copy in a little while. Hopefully my SIG Edition will be in the mail when I get home. Sorry again the confusion my bat!

I tried but...

Nothing at Family Christian
Nothing at Wal-mart
Nothing at Best Buy

I finally found one copy at FYE.

Family said they had 7 on order. Ooooohhhhh 7 whole copies! Then she added insult to injury by saying they usually have new releases up to a month before release and that if it was a new release they would have it. I informed her I knew for sure it was released today and that the album existed because I was at the taping!  :x

SHARA: I called 5 Christian stores in Indianapolis and NONE had the CD. The Berean Bookstore said they thought they were going to get it today, but it wasn't in the shipment. Family Christian Stores and Lifeway never heard of it. The other two were a long shot as they are tiny independent stores.

However, believe it or not, Best Buy had it, and had it for 11.99.

Meijer had one copy left. I snagged it. I tried calling Family Bookstore and Parable and got, "Sorry, no record of that" and "Petra is still around?"

I don't know where you got that impression. I've been very grateful for the support that inpop has given Petra. In this case ya know stuff happens. It's not like the major market was chomping at the bit to get this thing like we were. Sadly it's not how it used to be. This doesn't happen with Third Day or Newsong or somebody like that because the sales expectation are higher, and it's not just inpop's expectations, it's the market. I'm sure nobody intentionally slacked on this.

Yeah Sam Goody

Post by BForm » Tue Nov 22, 2005 9:35 pm

O.K. East Metro Atlantans, I found 5 copies at Sam Goody. Well.....four now. So hurry!!!!

Seriously though, this is really sad. This is a huge screw-up on somebody's part given that we are a few days away from the biggest shopping day of the year. Yet God is sovereign and has a purpose even in such minor events.

Let's go a little easy on Inpop. This time I'm sure they really are more frustrated than we are. They're the ones that invested the money in this project and need to see a return. I'm sure there are a few people over there who are just beside themselves with frustration right now.

Tulsa report

Post by Michael » Tue Nov 22, 2005 10:13 pm

Wal-Mart by Oral Roberts University: about 10 copies
Mardels: 2 stores, each had about 20 copies on the shelves
Lifeway: the guy who puts out new stuff was out today (!), so the girl didn't know if they had any.
Family Christian: here the plot thickens. The manager looked the CD up with their distributor, and told us that their supplier reported that the release date had been pushed back! I think someone saw that the DVD release date had changed and assumed it was true for the CD too. D'OH!!! That might explain the problem with many of the stores not having it on record.

We left coupons with each of the Christian bookstores, although all held them for later approval or because they didn't have any copies on hand yet. All were very receptive, though, which is cool.

I've emailed Shara to ask for more COUPONS! There are LOTS of places to place this stuff in Tulsa.

Walmart and family christian

Post by its231 » Tue Nov 22, 2005 10:26 pm

For one give Sharon a break sometimes with Walmart it takes up to a full week to get some Christian releases onto the shelf's this includes more popular bands like Third Day or Cece Winans. When the new Stryper album came out it took them almost up to a full week before they had it on the shelf I know this for a fact because I work for Walmart. I checked at my local family christian bookstore to they had no clue. Sharon is working her but off and that in and of itself demands are respect. She's has done her job of getting people signed up for the street time and delivering on the promotional items to hand out for promoting the cd. I personally delivered 2 albums flats and 2 dollar coupons to the local christian bookstores in my area. You should be ashamed of yourself for giving her a hard time she's very dignified in her responses on this board and in her efforts on helping Petra out. I know Petra is our favorite band in the world and it's always hard when you think your favorite band is being treated bad in any way shape or form. I to was flustrated Family Christian had no clue as to what I was talking about. The other store in town acknowledged that the store's buyer had made mention of them getting the cd in shortly because an order had been placed only worker on the floor was very helpful and I appreciated her efforts for at least trying same with Family Christian. Give Sharon a break she's making the phone calls and getting the distrubution problem fixed. Sharon in an effort to help you out it's the family christain bookstore in Elkhart, Indiana that no clue about the Petra album. The only christian bookstore in Goshen which is next to Elkhart at least acknowledged they would be getting it in. I hoep this helps you and I myself appreciate inpop and you for hard work in getting this album out I look forward to buying it and the dvd when it is released next year. By the way the 9 minute promotional clip for the new album dvd was awesome. Your work and efforts are very much appreciate and I for one am grateful inpop is giving Petra the respect. Sometimes you have no control over something you can deliver a product and it does happen where there is a distribution error give the woman a break it could have happened to anyone for goodness sakes. I work in retail and know how flustrating when something you ordered takes a lot longer then it should to get to market. Try Walmart in three to five days or less sometimes the cd freight isn't put out until third shift and trust me there are a lot of cd's to put up on Monday nights and Tuesday nights. Some of you will say if they had there act together this wouldn't have happened well got news for you sometimes it does and it's not just tied to Petra albums. This happens with a lot new Christian cd's. I would guess by the weekend they should have this fixed. I think Sharon deserves more respect and stop giving the poor woman a headache she's doing her best. She delivered on the promotiona material. Goodness there is now a 32 megabite download you can download and share with your friends . I downloaded it with no problem but then again I have a high speed connection it only took two minutes or less to download. Now please give her break and cool your jets. I'm sure in a few days these problems will be fixed. Bye and god bless all you on this board. Hopefully no one gets bent out of shape about this. I've been in retail for seven years only 25 but I do know what I'm talking about god bless and good night all.

Wal-Mart has it. They've just not filled the shelves yet. There was an open box of new CDs sitting next to the shelves and grabbed my copy from there along with a copy of the new Scott Stapp. (You outta check that one out, if you can't get Petra right away).

Apparently, with Christmas just around the corner, this is a huge day for lots of multimedia releases. Alot of new stuff came out today and the stores are just now starting to experience the rush. Patience grasshoppa! ;)
