Something I read here got me Googling for Pete Orta, and I learned a few things. Mainly, that he and Jaci Velasquez have been creating some major tuneage together. He's played guitar on her last two CDs, and apparently even sang a duet with her on her Christmas CD. And he has produced the first CD by the first artist on her new label. Read about it here (it came out a year ago, and I've never heard of it).

Pete Orta

That's interesting for a lot of reasons. Pete has little formal training, so while a good ear is needed, so is knowledge.

Him and Jaci seemed to have formed a little circle. That should be good for his career. Also, by playing with her, he'll be employed for awhile. Also, wasn't Bryce Bell also on tour with her?

Bryce was with Rebecca St. James. Her dad had been after Bryce while he was with Petra, but Bryce always declined.

Finally he made him an offer he couldn't refuse, and off to the St. James camp he went.

It was a difficult decision for him... he really loved being part of Petra.

There are too many hits that proove that luck is all that is needed. Some of the smartest and most talented musicians generate crap. It all comes down to being able to connect to the lowest, widest market denominator.

Pete has been in CA, doing the writing, producing, recording studio thing. He can't be that stupid if he is still surviving out there.
