Fav Volz songs poll #1 (The River Is Rising)

Post by greenchili » Thu Feb 23, 2006 1:36 am

Double poll this week guys (and gals Wink ) so be sure to check em both out.

With the recent ending of Petra's music ministry I thought it'd be kind of interesting to start a series of polls on favorite songs. I figured I'd do an album each week.

This poll starts the introduction of Greg X. Volz's solo career. Since I know there are a handful of Greg fans I figured I'd at least do this one. So for those interested, get out your GXV CD's and start listening. Do it now!! Listening is NOT optional!!! ;)

No previous poll results cause this is the first one. Go look in the Petra poll thread here or here.

Here are a few notes I scrounged up.

(1) JDB left petra to work with Greg.
(2) John Lawry provided some input on this one.
(3) The mysterious "pieces of eight" was Greg's tour band for this album. They only toured one year.
(4) Check it out... Jimmy Lee Sloas listed as bass player.

My pick for this one is "All I can Do", with maybe "Hold Onto The Fire" 2nd. If I was a ballad kinda guy "Man Like You" would be my third choice.

I voted for Break Out Of the Trance. I remember that being on the cassette I had of this. There was not a song I disliked on this.

It has been over a year since I listened to this cassette.

Living for the Bell was my choice. Although its a bit of a gimicky song, its catchy and does ring true with a lot of modern day Christians.

I liked a lot of these songs, but its the last thing I ever owned with GXV. For the longest time, I tought it was his final hurrah.

I had a DJ at a local skating rink who ALLWAYS made it a point to play "Livin' For The Bell" every skate night.

I had forgot to say that this is by far my favorite Greg X. Volz album and I also consider it by far his best solo work.

Although his other albums (with the exception of the 2nd one which I dont really like) are fairly solid they tend to repeat alot of stuff that was done here.

For along time Barrier was my favorite on this album, but in the long run "All I Can Do" won out.
