Josh,
I gotta agree with you here. That is why I posted this thread in the first place. We were there and saw the thing being taped. If I hadn't seen the DVD and read some of the comments here I (A) Wouldn't want to see it or (B) would form a negative opinion before even seeing it.
I popped it into the DVD player expecting the worst. When I saw the actual footage I was blown away! This wasn't cheap. I've read comments about the poor packaging. Most DVD's don't come with inserts unless it's some "Special Edition." The DVD is quality product.
Hey, as a fan I to would love for Petra to be touring around the globe and sweeping the Dove and Grammy's. But like Josh noted, that wasn't happening. We went from Petra being the most popular and sweeping the favorite band, guitar player, bass player, keyboard player, singer drummer catagories in CCM, to people not even knowing that they were still around!
I just don't like the comments about Inpop, and the way it's put out there. Like, "Yeah, it's Petra's mistake cause they signed with Inpop." They are responsible for not signing with someone who would really back them." Come on folks! Petra didn't have anyone wanting to sign them!
They were on a one way trip to obscurity with Double Take being the last album we would ever see. Sure the WORD days were the hay day, but from what I can see Inpop has been the only company that signed and supported Petra when they weren't at the top. They invested in this group because they believed in the group, not because they saw huge potential revenue. That's not how the corporate world (Let alone the music industry) usually works and for that alone I think Inpop should be commended!
We have to stop being so picky and be thankful for the fact that we have the DVD.
I don't like the outfit Bob wore during the rehearsal footage. Bob deserves better.
