A more proper hello...

Hello all! I posted yesterday looking for chords to "The Holiest Name", and I didn't really introduce myself and my love for Petra.

I became a Christian in 1990 at the age of 18 working at a Christian camp (I lied on my application and told them I was a Christian...God used that to change my heart while I was there and I gave my heart to Him). After that summer I became best friends with a guy named Bill. Bill was a rocker and he loved Petra, so he had me listen to Beyond Belief. It was awesome, and I was hooked. We went to many concerts and I've followed Petra all these years. Well, about seven years ago Bill died of brain cancer. As strange as it sounds, when I heard Petra was retiring I cried. In my mind, Petra and Bill are so linked that it was like I was losing him all over again. Of course, they deserve to retire and they have inspired me so much over the years...but I sure will miss them.

Now, I'm a Youth Pastor...have been for nine years at the same church. Much of this is credited to Bill and Petra.

It's nice to be among other Petheads!

Until we get to heaven, the members of Petra will have no way of knowing exactly how many people whose lives they have impacted through their music and ministry. I'm certain the members at least somewhat know how much of an influence their music has made on people, and I know they are very grateful for the long career and ministry that God has provided for them.

It's cool to hear about how you were first introduced to Petra's music, and how much of an influence both your friend Bill and the music of Petra have had on your Christian walk.
