Question about II Guys summer tour

Post by krazykanuk » Wed Jul 25, 2007 2:23 pm

I hope to see 2 Guys From Petra when they come to Oro Ontario in mid August. I am just wondering what, besides their Vertical Expressions Cd, they have for merchandise. Have they done up new tour shirts? What other merch will they have? I would like to know to satisfy my curiosity and to know how much money to bring.

Hey Krazykanuk,

Where are you located?

I was going to go to the concert that weekend, but I'm getting married in September and it just wasn't in the budget. I'm located in Barrie and use to have a Petra decal on my car when they announced their retirement.

Anyway, have fun at the concert.

I am located in Guelph and have been a Petra fan since 1992. My work afternoon has been cleared for the Friday August 17, so my wife and I will be going (she might watch Phil Keaggy instead though).
The concert(s) will take place at a family camp in Oro Ontario at Freedomfest, a mini christian rock festival. They perform 9pm Friday night, 6 pm Saturday night, and Sunday morning worship. Details are on their MYSPace website.

You can check out the sched here too: http://www.johnwschlitt.com/promoters/tour.html

It's always up to date (probably moreso than Myspace). The times MAY change... having Keaggy & II Guys on at the same time is not a good idea, so hopefully they'll switch that around. I'll know in a week or so.

Don't forget Winnipeg, and now Thunder Bay in Sept. If you ever wanted to "sit at the feet of a master," Thunder Bay is hosting a seminar with the Guys on Sat. morning. You'll be in for a treat with this one!

As far as merch - they bring along most all of the Petra CDs, including Spanish J&H as well as the stuff you can find on petramerchandise.com (keychains, coasters, Farewell tour shirts, etc.)

There are some new hats with the II Guys logo, but no tshirts.

KrazyKanuk,
Good to see you on here again. I wondered if you knew about this festival. I was contemplating going, but the way they've got the schedule setup is less than desirable in my humble opinion. That coupled with the fact that i've seen lots of the II Guys repertoire already on the internet on petrafiles.com etc makes me think i can't justify the money at this time, especially with a baby on the way in early Sept. Now if the promoter were to make this a petra reunion i'd reconsider! I'm not knocking FreedomFest, it's just that there's a lot of 'little' acts on the bill and a very few ones i'm interested in seeing. It's a start though for what Ontario needs. Hopefully for your sake John and Bob will pull out some songs not available on the net for viewing.

And Steve, get on facebook! It's the best way to contact me!

If you have bought the Farewell DVD you may re-consider visiting a Petra Reunion as well, as a lot of the ol' Petra songs are available on the DVD!

Not so trodlan, i think i just get more into electric music live. I tend to like to 'rock' at concerts. By the by, i bought Vertical Expressions and love it!

One would hope that the Petra reunion would include some songs not done on the farewell tour. Perhaps "Hit you where you live" or "Sleeping Giant".

Good comment, Trodland!

So Dave, baby aside-- are you saying that the availability of vids on the net is good enough for you that you don't feel the need to see II Guys live?

I'd really hate for that to be the case... but if more people feel that way, (that watching on the net is good enough) maybe we need to pull some of those (at least the ones I have control over on jws.com).

I don't think the vids should be pulled. There are a lot of people who can't afford to go to shows. Does that mean that they shouldn't be ministered to. Now, we're back to the issues Keith Green brought up back in the day.

All in all Sue, I think Bob and John will still do fine for themselves moneywise. I'm not saying they'll rake in millions, but they'll be alright.

God bless them as they continue their ministry.

I have been at three different II Guys concerts, and they have all been a blessing to me. I love these songs they perform, and I would offer much money and time to see these Guys performing live! It's so much better live than listening to an audio-CD at home!
Anyway, I have taken offline my full II Guys concert vids, and will only be sharing limited video clips of II Guys in the future. NOT full concerts. I am doing this because I think more people actually should go to see these II Guys live, rather than sitting in front of their PC's.

I'm totally agree with you, trodlan! It's never the same to watch on a computer, as it is to be on a concert live. But I think it's good to have some of the video-songs available on the internet, of the reasons that people, to a greater degree, can listen to ''the Guys" ministry and grow in their own believe... then also want to go to see them live!
I think that all you people who have heard John's fantastic voice, and Bob Hartmans fabulous guitarplay live, you know that it's so much different than a cd. I have alot of gigabytes of Petra-videos, but I still prefer to pay much money to see them live!
It's a blessing that I still have the opportunity to go to see them live!
Just to listen to the songs and their testimony, inspire me, and make my relationsship to Jesus Christ to grow. I'm sure that most of the 2500 people who watch them live in Sweden earlier this month agree with me in that point.
It's so sad to hear that some people prefer to sitting in front of their ps's, instead of to see John and Bob live and praise the Lord with all the people there!
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor - Ecclesiastes 4:9

Hope you understand what I mean =) Much things to say in a few words (with fairly bad english grammar =P )
Blessings

Trodlan, you obviously are entitled to do whatever you want with your footage. I think it is wrong to punish everyone in cyberworld becuz of some comments I (one fan) made. It's like a teacher punishing a whole class cuz one student upset them or did something wrong.

I totally believe that any publicity on the internet is good for John and Bob. They need to be right out there on youtube, purevolume, myspace, facebook etc. That's how the kids like their stuff now. To now withhold footage is unwise.

How do you know i am not in the minority? Just becuz I don't feel the need to see them live at one festival doesn't mean there aren't others who would still go see them tho they've seen them on the internet.

I have heard quite a bit on the PetraZone over the years. It is a very cliquish sort of place in a way. If someone disagrees with the majority opinion on an issue re: petra and their ministry quite often Bible verses are thrown at them, and they are made to feel less Christian or at least weird.

I think i made it clear in an earlier post-a big factor in me not going to this show is that it is not a full band, rock n' roll show. So what, it's just a preference i have.
Allow for diversity of opinions. We're not talking about salvation here. It's music people!

Its music to some poeple but its also LIFE to others. For people who have not heard or strayed away it is Salvation!!!. To others it brings them closer to Jesus.

In posting my original message, I never once meant for this to become a seeing them live vs on computer thing. I have the privilege of seeing Petra live 11 times, having to drive many miles to do so a lot of the time. And they wowed me every time. There is nothing compared to seeing them live, or seeing John and Bob live, as I will hopefully soon find out.
Trodlan has been extremely generous in sharing his concert downloads with all of us. I have built up a collection of Petra concerts which I treasure very much. If he wishes to add or remove any files from his site, it is his choice. And we all respect him for that.
Please get out to see and support 2 Guys this summer, even if it means travelling a distance to do so. You will not be disappointed. From what I have seen on Trodlan's downloads, they put on a great show.
If Trodlan is reading this post, the Lord bless you and your family. I have just one request. Could you please make available one of your 2002 Petra Revival tour concerts? I was unable to see that tour live and would love to hear Send Revival Start With Me played live. Thank you.
